Apex Legends isn't that precise of a first person shooter, it's more movement based, yet games like Tom Clancy's Siege, PUBG (console and PC), Overwatch (PC lobbies) do not offer aim assistance for controller users even while against mouse & keyboard users (PUBG doesn't even have aim assist on consoles).
Yet those controller players didn't quit playing those games.
I have personally played controller for 20+ years, I know what aim assist is. There is a difference when trying to enjoy video games with friends and/ or using a controller against players, even those who don't have the assistance.
This argument that mouse & keyboard user's have the "ability to do more" isn't a good justification to give all controller users always running software, because then all the controller users wouldn't be using, you know, a controller.
Apex Legends controller users are starting to outnumber mouse & keyboard players on PC.
A controller with aim assist is one thing, but when you know how to take advantage of it is another. Controller isn't that good at looting, but boy you better watch out in close quarters range. 240 FPS, all low settings and a controller is the easiest gameplay you can get in Apex Legends.Everytime I hear someone say, "Controllers need aim assist while on PC because the mouse & keyboard is so much better", but then that person is playing on PC, why don't they use this massive advantage input called mouse & keyboard then?
Controller users that continue to contradict themselves are getting old. I played Apex Legends mostly with a controller, I know directly both sides of inputs as I currently play with a mouse & keyboard. @Popa2caps Not sure where's the problem: you're a controller player yet you hate using it? Or you're a m&k player and you're saying you're at disadvantage? Cause i could ask you the same, why don't you switch to controller if it's far easier? But anyway,
If this thing bothers you that much feel free to play other games, nobody's forcing you to play Apex, which btw is also a successful game (more than 2 billion $ since launch and more than 1 milion $ already on the mobile version). Not every game is supposed to be a competitive one, although even Apex has competitive tournaments and last one had a huge success in terms of views and interactions.
I'm not defending the game, i've criticized it A LOT and other senior members of this forum can confirm it, i'm just stating some facts and i'd love to see massive improvements which we'll never get unfortunately. Aim assist is not going anywhere, they could make some tweaks but that's it.
@Popa2caps I've always maintained that Aim Assist is necessary due to the inaccuracy of joysticks (or whatever they're called now). Nothing to do with what M/KB is capable of and both devices should be separated.
Let's not lie here both sides will call BS when the other side can perform a feat that they can't while believing their advantages are fair. Even if things were perfectly balance players won't agree so my stance is always separate lobbies.
@Popa2caps Also movement based shooters should make it harder to perform without AA so that point was a little weird.
