Re: Why so few weapons?

Having less weapons is less of a pain in the * to balance them to each other. So yes, the "Well if you had more guns, they would all feel the same" argument is indeed valid. Especially with modern guns, which are mostly based on AK or AR-15 platforms or even better, straight up clones or just minor improvements for them. There´re just a small amount of modern guns, which are actually somewhat unique from the usual design of modern weapons.

If you want a * of weapons, where the uniqueness is bigger, go to WW1 and WW2 weapons.

No. * that. Add more guns.

Hell, they could have half assed it and added all the BF4 guns, and just added fresh textures.

The lack of guns in the game is a joke. And the fact you suggest we play an older game? Unacceptable

More guns aren´t going to help the balance and only make it more difficult to do so more literally no reason. It was already time that we have actually less weapons, which anyway played the same. This game has problems enough and don´t need more by pointlessly adding weapons.

My guess is that they cut out a fair number of them to sell/release during the season packs like CoD 2018 does with the battlepass.

The lack of accessibility and contend is what will make 2042 DOA.

If friends can't even search a server, stay together as a squad or I cant even selected what map i wanna play on, its a major issue. We has all this stuff in past BF games so limiting gamers (esp on a PC) options is never a smart thing. Contend wise, 2042 is so bare bone, it feels unfinished at times. I think BF 4 has over 70 weapons at launch AND a single player AND TDM and Rush modes and more. And this esp. hurts even more as there is no single player. For 3 years work, there is little to show for. Even with a pandemic.

  • You wouldn't have liked BF2 then.  I for one don't mind fewer weapons when I hardly use more than 2 different guns right now.  Less is more.

  • @TasharaFus I think thats maybe the trick behind portal..
You dont like the main game? Go and play portal and create your own game - Problem solved.

But I agree a greater variation would be great.
At least an ak100 or ar base with the opportunity to use c-mags or so.. to give rifles/lmg users more options instead of 2 beltfed lmg's - for example.
Or the remade XM8 from BC2 which would fit pretty good in the 2042 setting with all it's variations of saw, sniper etc..
1 Rifle, useable for all "classes".

But yeah as @-DFA-Thump pointed out, probably cut out for future content.

@CantGetRight Its not only about having a variety to choose from but also keep you playing for a while to unlock new ones. Ive played for 2 weeks and only one gun is left to unlock. Maybe we dont need 100s of weapons but I think a few more wouldn't have hurt.

@Terminator000001 Oh the irony. We have the least amount of guns at release out of any BF game, and probably the worst balance too. PP29 is more potent than M16A3 in BF3 or Ace-23 in BF4. Hell even Kriss vector from Hardline wasn't so stupidly broken when it came out.

Going further, you probably have very little knowledge of modern weapons or simply haven't played BF4. There are a ton weapons with unique characteristics out there. Famas\AEK with crazy rate of fire. Sar/AUG with slower rate of fire and low recoil for medium range. Scar H/bulldog with high damage, low ROF and higer recoil for people who want to master guns that require more skill. And same goes for every weapon category. Here we have absolutely no variety.

2 LMGs that functions almost identical.

2 sniper rifles with 1 being 100% better than the first one.

No fast sniper rifles for closer range engagements if people into that like SV98 or M40A5.

    The list just keeps going.

My concern isn't with balance, it's with lack of customization and variety. It's 2042. Somehow we have less guns than we did in WW2.

Optics and attachments are subpar and don't allow for enough variations of weaponry and play styles on the battlefield.

Any SMG in 2042 benefits the same way from the problems that any other automatic weapon suffers with the bullet spread. The PP29 only sticks out because just because of "DUH... MUH BIG MAGAZINE!".

And yeah, I did play BF4 and this game horribly bored me to death with its more than casual CoD gunplay (and people favouring CoD maps in a goddamn Battlefield), with AEK being one of the lamest meta weapons with the super high RoF and being accurate from the hip and the Galil just being a M16 reskin from BF3. And no, modern weapons are boring as hell compared to the uniqueness of historical weapons. It´s literally the same as the comparison of historical cars vs modern ones. The modern ones are ugly as hell, full of useless toys nobody needs and totally unreliable. While historical cars are literal art.

LOL BF2 came out in 2005! and is not an argument for not having more guns in a 2021 game! The world is at our finger tips, this game should have had more guns hands down. Its not a MILSIM! Heck even Milsims have more guns than this game.

I think SQUAD has more guns in their game than this, and emplacements!!!!!!!

BF2042 has lost so many BF staples, and for the people that say balance etc. I think your arguments is void

The other argument that "they will come in the future" is also a slap in the face... lol all the fixes and a "Good Product" are in the future, wait to sell your product then!!!!!!

We are like 20-30 weapons short atm for something acceptable imo

    BF3 - shipped 50+ Guns including Launchers

BF4 - shipped 70+ Guns not including Launchers

    BF2042 - >30 Guns including Launchers

@UP_LordPlumber agree with you. In BF3 EVERY WEAPON FELT UNIQUE. In BF4 some felt a bit similar but in reality they were all unique in some way of its own. In 2042 we don't have variety at all. We have 6 actual assault rifles and 3 are similar (sfar, ak24, rm68) and 2 are also similar (m5a3 and am40) so would people say that "all weapons are the same" cause 2042 does what bf4 did but with less weapons.

I agree. But I wish we had more of them
