Can't Proceed Act of Mercy Quest In Dragon Age II

I am unable to proceed in Dragon Age II Act of Mercy quest because the cutscene with Alain doesn't happen and I cannot go through the open door towards where the quest is. After I killed all the enemies, he is just standing there, looking scared.
