Re: Game won't load past the starting screen.

Hi @JanisSG - Can we get a little bit more information, please - Are you playing on PC via Origin? What exactly happens when you click Play? Are you using a keyboard and mouse or do you have a controller?

I think you mean it won't go past the very first screen, before you reach the menu. If that's the case, mine always comes up and says "Controller Lost - Press a button on the controller you want to use" and if I click a mouse button or press a key on the keyboard, it will move past that screen. If this is the problem area, maybe you have an issue with an input device? I would try rebooting your pc first, just to see if it that helps. Let us know

1 error that shows in the Logs

    "68 [2021-07-18 09:07:18.931] Error OriginTelemetry::TelemetryEvent::logDiscardedAttributeError 14432 TelemetryEvent attribute "url_" discarded. Value: https://origin-a.akamaihd.net/Origin-Client-Download/origin/live/OriginUpdate_10_5_101_48500.zip. Error: -5 69 [2021-07-18 09:07:18.931] Error OriginTelemetry::TelemetryEvent::deserializeToEvent3"

I did delete and instal origin again
One would think that uninstalling the game and origin and installing them again would fix the game files.

Here is a video of how far i can get .

Did you waited longer than what is shown in the Video?

Did you just uninstalled Origin, or did you cleared cache and registry as well?

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that  with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

I did wait for 30 min or so
Not sure on how to clear cache or registry file.

And if it matters i have no issue running any other Origin game, Steam Game or GoG game.

    OK, let's start with that.

Look at this guide. to preform a clean uninstall of Origin.

    • Scroll down to "How to uninstall the Origin client the hard way"
    • Follow the instructions to the letter.
    • reboot.
    • Download this version of the "OriginSetup.exe"
    • Run the installer as Administrator (Right click the "OriginSetup.exe" > Run as an Administrator) > Test.

@JanisSG - If you cleared cache and followed all of the steps from @holger1405 it sounds like something might be blocking access to the internet. You might have had an antivirus software update that caused the issue, for instance.

Try the steps below to see if you can identify the problem:

Always run installation files "As Administrator"
Firewall and Antivirus - Make sure Lost in Random.exe and Origin.exe are added to exception lists. If you have BitDefender installed, disable it to test.
Graphics drivers and OS are patched and updated to newest versions
Lost in Random.exe and Origin.exe - Set them to run "as administrator"
Nahimic from MSI - this is an audio management program that comes with MSI motherboards. Disable or uninstall it. Nahimic 2 & 3 are known to cause this issue.
Disable Origin in-game In Origin main menu, right-click Lost in Random icon > Game Properties > check the box that says "Disable Origin In-game"

If none of these work, try a Clean Boot https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/ and attempt to launch the game. If it launches, you'll have some detective work to do. Enable one startup program at a time, reboot, try LiR, until you find the program that is blocking it. Once you find the offending program, disable or uninstall it. You should be able to launch LiR successfully without doing the clean boot after disabling the offending program.

Definitely post back and let us know whether something worked.

@JanisSG Is the issue still that Lost in Random won't launch, or are you having issues with Origin now?

What exactly happened when you did the clean boot?

    @BlackjackWidow The same issue.
The issue is with lost in random. Other origin games work fine.
It might be that i need to delete all the Lost in Random files.
cuz when you uninstall the game it probably still keeps some files on your PC.

At this rate i might just give up on it, had amazing experience but the hassle might not be worth it .
Thank you for all your help.

@JanisSG - I don't think deleting files is necessary, the game is trying to start and is being blocked by something. If you delete all the game files, you'll lose your progress. I'm very surprised that you can't start the game after doing a clean boot. That should eliminate most of the variables.

The log files lead me to believe you're playing the game from Steam. One simple thing that you could try is to completely exit both Origin and Steam. Make certain neither program is running. Log into Steam and launch Lost in Random. This should bring up the Origin window - log into Origin and then see if the game launches properly.

If that doesn't work, we might be able to help further if you're willing to try. Please reply with a copy of the InstallLog.txt file for LiR.

The default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Lost In Random\__Installer\InstallLog.txt

I understand very well, but I would like to ask you to at least try a clean boot following this guide.

Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.

Make also sure you run Origin as Administrator. (Right click the Origin desktop shortcut > run as Administrator.)

If you want to try a clean reinstallation of the game we can provide you with a guide that keeps your progress.

    @holger1405 I already did that.
    nothing changed.
if i press any key with controller it still does not load and when i unplug it goes back to press any key screen.
Nothing is blocking it as far as i know.
the game is running - it just won't go past that screen.

@JanisSG - Where did you find the _Installer folder - \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lost In Random or \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Lost In Random? Please check if there's an InstallLog.txt file in either of those places. If so, attach and let us know which spot it was.

If there is none, please verify files in Steam, then repair game in Origin by right-clicking LiR > choose Repair. Also, ensure that you have enabled View Hidden Files and Folders

If you start the game without the controller and press a keyboard key, does it start?

@BlackjackWidow so my Origin game folder is empty.
I did verify game files already bunch of times (4 times on steam and 2 times on origin)

@JanisSG - did you try unplugging your controller before you start the game? When it asks you to press a button on the controller, click a mouse button.

And no worries that there are no files in the Origin folder, if it's installed under steam apps that's fine.

@holger1405 quick update. Did try to install game from different account and it worked. So it is issue on steam or origin not the game files.

Ok, in this case you need to contact EA Support directly.

If you are not from the US change the country in the top right corner.

If you have trouble with the contact attempt look at this guide
