Unable to install the EA app, "installation timed out" error
I'm unable to install the EA app, I get an "installation timed out" error. This has been a problem for me ever since Origin was replaced by the EA app, I've never once been able to successfully install it. I've tried fresh Windows installs and even using a completely different internet connection, but the problem persists. I've been through the helpdesk multiple times but have exhausted all solutions.
When I start installing the EA app, I get as far as choosing the install directory (yes, I've tried different install directories) and pressing "let's go". It then gets to "downloading stuff" and then to "installing the EA app" when it then throws up the "installation timed out" error. I get a different error if turn off my internet.
I have many programs on my PC that need internet access, but the EA app is the only one that has time out problems. Although, since it specifically says "installation timed out" and judging by the fact it gets past the "downloading stuff" step, it appears to have successfully downloaded the installer, so it seems this isn't related to my internet connection. In fact, if I manually install Origin and use some trickery to prevent the update to the EA app, I'm able to play my games. It seems to me there's something unusual about my PC, something that persists even with a fresh Windows install. I've tried turning off my antivirus and firewall, so it doesn't seem to be that.
