Connection failed We couldn't connect you to other players. Reload and try again

So basically I just downloaded and installed FC24 on a new computer. The game ran fine, I started it, but it won't let me into FUT, saying "EA server is unavailable".

I got out and saw my status indication was grey instead of green, and when I tried to switch the status to "online", I got this message.

Connection failed. We couldn't connect you to other players. Reload and try again.

I mean, I am clearly online, otherwise, how was the game downloaded? But I am also clearly not online, otherwise I wouldn't show as "offline" and cannot connect to the server.

Please help. BTW, I did check the EA server status and it says all servers are working fine.
