Crin this is what the older version looks like in download version and I still cant bypass the launcher and origin. This version is dated June 2010, My hard disc has the plubobs all over it and looks diffrent than the download version

Yes, that's the old version (new version is sept 2012 or newer.

I think your case is a bit special since you have both version on the same account. Something is not right for you but that does not mean, it's the same issue for everyone else.

I have both versions and have done many self-tests (mine are not on the same account though)

How long have you had origin in your computer? Yours maybe working because you have an old install of origin that you keep updated.  Everyone I have spoken to with my same issue just did a new install of the game and origin including myself.  Two weeks ago I was still playing my old game I had since Aug 2013. It had an older version of origin that was kept updated and I had no problems with origin. I could bypass the launcer and origin to get in the game. Its something to do with a newer version of origin

Not sure but not too long since I did several reinstalls of Origin as well (just to try stuff).  

I can uninstall Origin and redownload and try that tomorrow with my old version.

So far in all the threads here, they all seem to have the new version only so it's not really comparable, Not sure who else you talked too.

another woman who figured out the prolem when she could not download anything. I spoke with her. She just did a new install. bugvey who you were speaking to has same problem. I cant download anything either. My launcher wont open. I have been checking posts to see who else is having this problem. Some could be and don't know it. But my claim is still open with ea. I am getting errorss in DxDiag on origin and TS3W file on a clean install which I have not even played the game. All I did was go in and test a few things while I was on the phone with EA. Never saved a game. Right now I have an unused clean insatll and getting EA errors in my DxDiag. Errors I never got before

@BGH22 it did start working on my laptop, a tech friend of mine gave me a link to walk me through clearing the cache for the SIms3. I never deleted them as they were in folders and never noticed them before but that seems to have helped. I did decide to just buy a wifi USB adapter for my PC so I installed Origin onto my desktop and downloaded the games that way. Took about 2 days compared to like 3 hours it would have taken with the discs though. That's one reason I hate Origin. I've had one person contact me about a year ago asking why it was taking her a few days to download them and it's because she went off Origin instead of the discs so I know I'm far from the only person to have that issue.

So if you have any friends who have the issue of not playing SIms3 correctly have them look into clearing some of the Cache folders. I believe it shows step by step on the EA site.

Ok glad you got yours working. Mine is not an issue of Cashe. Mine is a new install that has not even been played and I am getting erros in my DxDiag. This is just on the base game and origin. In general always clean out your cashes every time you exit the game so that your game is always cleaned out when you restart the game! I have been playing this game on and off since 2009 so at this point Im firmilar with many of the glitches, how to get around them and keep the game clean.

Yeah I have been playing on and off since the first gen about 14 years ago but I never knew there was a game cache lol. I have a CCleaner on my PC to clear flash, browser(s), etc cache but never have I thought about a game cache until my friend/co-worker gave me the link for it. Apparently my graphic card and video card isn't good enough for the game since it's so demanding but the link they sent me for all the cards and what is good for which Sims3 expansion or stuff packs is ridiculous if it's true. Barely any graphic card would work and it's not like I can switch it out of a laptop and I don't want to spend like 20-40 per game and then another 50 or so on the graphic card for the game specifically when everything else runs great on what I have already. I just bought a new desktop and for them to say my graphic card isn't good enough for the game almost brought me to tears. I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for Sims4 so I'd truly be devestated if I couldn't play the games at all. Not like we can return an open game if it doesn't work on our computers. With 10 games and only one of them is like a 'Stuff Pack" which is High End Loft, that means I spent about 300 dollars on my games lol. For them to just not work, that's a lot of money to waste so I'm very glad I was able to play my games. Wi-fi adapters are an amazing invention lol. Now I can play on laptop and PC depending on my mood. Different families but it keeps things interesting. Hope you get to resolve your issue. It can be extremely frustrating when they don't work. 

Don't feel bad about the cashe. I did not realize origin ( the ram Hog) was running while playing and casuing me save problems! I know they went "Gaming" on the sims 3. You need the computer version that is equal to a playstation 3 to play this game. When it first came out a lot of people were upset because the sims has always been a PC game that will play on most any computer.  I have a med level dual AMD card, 8gb ram quad core and I can not play all eps. I can play many of them but as your saves get larger it takes up more ram. Really to play this game you need at least 16 gb ram or better, the best video card they make LOL Im sure some people can afford that but most can't. Lets hope they make the sims 4 game the old way since personally I like the game play in TS2 better than 3. It would be in EA's best intrest to make the new game compatable to many computers. More sales for them. I would wait before preording the sims 4 until they release the specs of the new game.  Im going to wait until the reviews are out before I even think about buying the sims 4. They still need to fix so many things in the sims 3.

Yeah I agree. I have like 4 gig mem and like 1TB. Honestly don't remember if it's RAM or what. Too tired at the moment lol. I have Intel HD Graphics for my card which I guess sucks but at least it's working lol. I was thinking of pre-ordering 4 but I won't until I know the spec's as well. I won't be wasting my money to pre-order when I can't play it even though I can return it even as a pre-order, just too much of a hassle. I love sims3 over 2 but if 2 is easier to play on most pc's then I wouldn't mind the slight loss of some of the graphics and such. I wouldn't even mind putting in my old first gen if I still had them lol. I just want to play them. It's like reading for me, my escape of real life for a tiny moment. 

4 gig means you only have 4 gig ram. 1TB is how much file space you have. I have 750 Gb file space. Its the ram you need to run the game. Haveing 4gb ram is on the low end because windows takes up part of that ram. I have 8 GB ram but only 5-6 gb ram  usable after windows and other things take up part of that ram. I love Create a Sim for 3 and the way the game looks much better than 2. I do like the open world better but this is why you need a gaming computer to play the sims 3. If they combined the look of TS3 on a single lot ( not open world) I would be happy with that. I also hate rabbit holes. I loved that you could go to the diner with your firends in TS2 and order a meal.for your sims and their  firends.  I miss that.  The new dances in the sims 3 I love espically if you have the dance studio.  The chicken dance is hilarious. Manybe if they combine elements of TS2 and 3 would work.  Playing God with the sims is an escape from relality that you can control ( accept for giltches that are out of our control LOL) .

For me this is a must have if you do not own it.

Yeah I don't have the SP to really get anything lol. Since they stopped giving the $10 SP cards with the games and only gave them away with a very select few I ran out quickly lol. I bought clothing, some appliances, hairstyles, etc. I only have like 60 SP I think left which is only because of the video things where you get 5 SP for every time you watch them lol. 

You know you can use a prepaid credit card or any credit card to get SP. You can also enter contest in the actual sims form ( not this forum) and if you win people will give you things on your wishlist and sometimes people just gift people items on their wish lists

Yeah most comps I see are for like building and such and I'm a horrible builder lol. I use other peoples houses or in game houses. Mine end up more just square. I think I just don't wanna spend the hours into building a nice house, I haven't tried to actually make a decent one in years. I have been gifted like this awesome kitchen set last year from a nice simmer and I do enter the people contests that are more random but never win. I just moved to a different state and am trying to find employment so don't have the funds to buy SP at the moment. It was really hard finding a job in Michigan but here I'm hoping it's easier. Now only if I lived near more stores lol. I've done every app for every place around us through paper apps for internet apps and went up to talk to managers on Thursday to let them know how serious I am about working for their companies. Hopefully I'll get something soon. That's why I wanted to play Sims3 even more because sitting at home doing nothing is driving me absolutely bonkers lol. PS when you down load these items with  the dance bar and the dance floor I think both should go in study either under activities or weights. I cant remember beacause at the moment my launcher is not working and I can not download it on my new game at the moment.
