Re: Lifeline re-rework from a lifeline main

@elevationFPS I hate the change as well. They changed her from having a good but situational fast rez and a very powerful fast heal (that helped shore up her mobility issues), to a strong but situational auto revive. The farther away your teammates are the weaker she is as a legend (for instance a teammate gets pinned behind a rock or a mobility legend takes high ground for advantage but gets knocked), having a caustic teammate makes her unusable, her ultimate is still rng garbage, and her drone is now even worse than it was before. I assume the devs' wanted to drop her win rate while raising her competitive viability, but gibby now is the exclusive fast rez and fast healer for the team with a 360 bubble, while also being far tankier and having a useful offensive ult...so I doubt once the hype dies down she will be played competitively more than before.

@SadLifeline6991 I agree with you about Gibraltar but for different reasons. During a revive Gibraltar's role should be harassing the enemy team. That 50 hp gun shield and havoc is a lot more useful in denying a push than Wraith dancing around with a R-99.

Everything you say about Lifeline SEEMS wrong. She's a support legend that's often played as an assault legend. Being dependent on having your team nearby to make full use of her abilities seems typical for a support character so I see no problems there. Players that have used her for so long will naturally hate the changes and you should. However she was 90% combat and 10% medic in the eyes of her team before so these changes fit her description better.

@LordloshBang I don't think the developers wanted this to be an ability heavy game either but if that's the case then they never should have given the characters different hit boxes.

More importantly I believe the real issue will be the same thing that made Gibraltar's dome revive OP. The Golden Backpack. You can easily push a dome and drop Gibby plus his team mate so long as Gibraltar doesn't have a golden backpack. With the back pack and you're jumping into a close range 1 v 2 against nearly full health opponents.

Lifeline would be able to revive a team mate and leave her drone behind to heal meaning he's up and nearly full health in a matter of seconds. All that and Lifeline barely has to disengage from combat to pull it off. That's pretty scary to fight against in Ranked.

  • @heme725 I think you are painting the optimal situation for her passive where she disengages from combat for free, is able to make it to wherever the knocked player is without getting absolutely clapped, the enemy team doesn't have a single grenade or a silence, they don't focus the teammate you left, then focus lifeline, or pincer the revive shield if it's a 2v1 and focus the lifeline and knock the rez. So far it seems to help in 1v1 situations, when my team is already in a position of strength but a teammate got knocked, or when we are at a distance(The old revive helped in all these situations as well). Also I don't understand why support legends aren't supposed to have abilities that help themselves. No other character in the game is limited like this. Lifeline's passive doesn't even effect the game until she is already at a disadvantage, and now requires you to be up your teammates' * the entire match to ensure you can get it off. If her tactical and ult were better it wouldn't be an issue, but having it be a great but situational ability combined with a subpar tactical and the worst ult in the game absolutely sucks for me so far...Also cant gibby drop ult on top of his dome to stop a push while rezzing and wraith just portals gibby and the rez out by the time the bombardment is over? It's not ironclad safe, but neither is lifeline trying to get her autorez off when a team is now pushing a knock.

@SadLifeline6991 Well, she can use it for cover, and since it isn’t 360 there are parts she can fire through without having to go halfway through the barrier.
Plus, she can do it anytime, whereas Gibby can only do it every (45?) seconds.
  • And i don`t know if this is intended or not, but you can`t interrupt the auto-revive. You have to do 100 damage to the player that is being auto-revived, which is even more OP/Broken.

I said it again, 2 things you should not mess up with - death and revive. By doing this you are taking the kills out of the players hand, and this is 1000000000000% wrong.

At the end of the day we are playing for kills and for the win.

This rework is stupid, lazy and totally unfair/unbalance. You take the rightful advantage of the team that get to this advantages by downing enemy player.

And this is totally game breaking and totally change the way your playing this game, and i can`t agree with that. If its a new game(aka first 6 months of the game) and you are doing constantly changing of the game and styles and so on, okay i may agree, but making everyone change their playstyle with every patch is wrong.

The only thing Lifeline wasn`t needed was to rework her passive. It was perfectly fine. They totally mess up with this new patch, totally.

@SadLifeline6991 I'm not against support characters having 1v1 ability but Lifeline was 90% Combat and 10% Medic in my eyes. Her Ult was weak and healing drone is slower than a med kit. Her revive was nice but the strongest part of her kit was suited towards fighting.

As for her new revive its still useful when it fails.

    - You can effectively use your reviving team mate as bait for any rushing enemy and get a free knock.

    - Use the shield from the revive as cover while firing back.

If they fail to prevent the revive then you've doubled your fighting force with minimal risk. There should be no downsides to attempting a revive as long as your team mate doesn't stupidly die in the middle of an open plain or isolated against a full team.

As for the Gibraltar/Wraith situation well.. kinda. Ideally Gibraltar drops dome for protection and ult as a deterrent while Wraith portals out. Enemies can still breach the dome before the bombardment if it isn't timed properly so its still better to defend as Gibby instead of revive. The golden backpack changes the story though.

@LordloshBang Except for your first point you're probably right about everything you say here. You shouldn't change the play styles of legends so freely and reworking Lifeline's passive wasn't necessary.

Lifeline also didn't need a rework at all just a buff to her Ult and maybe tactical. Unfortunately (fortunately to me) many people complained about Gibraltar stealing her abilities which pressured the devs to make Lifeline more unique. If you have a complaint about the Lifeline changes then blame the community because it was inevitable.
