All furniture disappears from Apartment when moving in

Hello,

I have had a few apartments where sims have lived until they died (so no one moved out and sold the furniture). I try to fill them with new families to keep the city populated. I usually start by editing the apartments in build/buy mode and made them look nice before moving in a new family. But when I try to move them in to the apartments, they only option that pops up is unfurnished. Each time this happens, I go back to build/buy mode to confirm that the apartment is still furnished and they always are. I spend a lot of time decorating the apartments and don't want to keep doing it over and over again. Please help! I just want the furnished apartments!!

Hi @erwillz - I think you should be able to place a copy of your furnished apartments into the gallery. Once you move a Sim into the apartment, I believe you should be able to replace the occupied unfurnished lot with the furnished copy in build mode. I know this strategy would work with normal lots. I don’t have a lot of experience with replacing apartments, but I think it would work. In any case, it wouldn’t take long to try it. Good luck! And let me know if it works for you - my curiosity is piqued now.

@erwillz, with the families that you are trying to move into these apartments, do they have enough money to purchase a furnished apartment?🤔 I've had that happen a few times on houses, only to realize that my Sims only could afford the house if it was unfurnished.🤭 Just thinking that this could also be happening to you as well. 😇
If this is the case, you can always use the Free Real Estate cheat. Bring up the Cheat Box by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C at the same time. Then type in the box freerealestate on and hit the Enter button. You cannot do this while moving though, so be sure to activate the cheat before initiating the moving sequence. 😉

And if this isn't your problem then @suzushka has a good work around for it! 🙌

Minor tangent, but sometimes I find myself wanting to Ctrl+Shift+C => rosebud in real life.

They can afford them! This is why it’s so frustrating. Also as someone who has played the sims for like 10 years, how have I never used that cheat before!! Thank you!

Hoping solved status means you’re currently enjoying the fruits of your labor. i’m having a hard time being articulate at the moment, because I think i might have just violated the laws of physics the first time I tried to put this into words just now... But, the underlying point was: I know what it’s like to get lost in a design project..and how I value what I’ve created - in the Sims and life too - so totally got where you were coming from.

I think this happens when a NPC dies in the lot. When purchasing the lot, usually it will only sell it unfurnished. I then go into edit world and add an item to the lot before purchasing. I can usually buy the lot furnished then.
