The new level cap in Apex Legends is effectively 2000. You can loop through levels 1-500 4 times.
The total number of packs you can now earn, through leveling up to 2000, is 544 packs. That is a guaranteed heirloom.
Recently published Heirloom Shard drop rates indicate an actual drop rate percentage of 0.045%.

My 1st heirloom I bought for about €43, as i had collected up loads of cm bought the purple stuff first, had the ea play discount (1month trial for €1) and collected up coin too. With that I also bought the event skin that gave 7 packs and opened them last.
I now collect up my packs and open them by the 100, so I only have to count to 5 😃 273 opened so far and 85 collected toward the next 100 grand opening.
I play Fortnite too, but I dont think there is anything like a heirloom there, so perhaps the lifetime refunds there are easier vs a refund on a mixture of collected coin, cm and bought coin.
