Re: I can't turn in motes to become a spellcaster

I've tried slecting the Sage, but there is no option to turn in the motes. Clicking on the motes only gives me the option to destroy them

@REDATHENA, can you become a Spellcaster if you don't leave the Magic Realm after collecting the motes but before you try to turn them in?  (That could be a bug I havn't heard of , but to better figure out the exact problem it would probably help to know if you can complete the task if you don't leave the Realm during it!) 😉

Also, do you play with any Mods or Custom Content (CC).  Outdated Mods/CC can also cause problems

If you play with Mods or CC please do the following to see if outdated CC/Mods are the problem:

Please do all of the following:

1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop

2) Delete localthumbcache.package file in the game folder.

3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list.  Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.

4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty.  Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.

5) Now you can try addng back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly.  If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method. 

Mods and CC most often cause problems anytime EA releases a patch/update.  Most people who make Mods and CC will update their items to work with the updates that EA releases as soon as they can.  Once you find the culprit using the above instructions, you can then see if the creator of the Mod or CC has an updated version and replace that with the outdated one.

If this still doesn't fix your problem, or if you have never used Mods/CC  then it may be a bug!

Hi @REDATHENA seems that @PugLove888 is now going over things with you. 

If you do use mods Mods and CC they require maintenance to keep them in your game, if the modder has not updated it after a game patch/update it may be broken (you can check via the mod tracker for reported broken, etc mods). The process of culling & removing it, to find the broken mod is the only option though, you'll find it won't be 'all of them' but a few or even just 'one'.. 

Though you mentioned in your report that you've never used them. 

Also,  seems you're using a mac so @Bluebellflora may have more ideas as well.

I have no connection to EA

I've been having the same problem, no matter what sage I click on. Did you manage to figure It out?

@lauradynamite, we don't know if @REDATHENA 's case was solved since they never replied again after I suggested it could be one of their Mods or CC causing their particular problem.  But their case was also a bit unique since they had traveled away from the Realm during the collection process.  Also, very often posters don't return if a suggestion works, which is unfortunate as people like yourself will now wonder if any previous suggestions fixed the problem. ☹️🤭

However, for every other person that I have encountered with the problem of not being able to turn in their motes to complete the task to become a Spellcaster, the problem was that they were using a Sim that was already a Vampire or Alien or Mermaid, etc. and supernatural Sims aren't allowed to also become Spellcasters.  🤨 So, is the Sim that you are having problems with already another type of supernatural Sim? 🤔

Nope, not supernatural, normal vanilla sim. And it's couldn't be mods or CCs for me cause I don't play with those. 

@lauradynamite, did you happen to do something similar to what @REDATHENA did.  They  "Ask to learn magic and leave magic realm before you collect motes and save game and exit. "   And then when they tried to collect the motes later, they could not turn them in.  Is this what you did as well?🤔  If not, what exactly did you do?

I tested this and finally got the same expeirience that you and @REDATHENA , got!  (I was using a regular Sim who had never been a supernatural, and I also do not use Mods or CC).  This is a bug, and you should make a Bug Report on it! 😇
