I tested it with only MCCC.

@Spaceysparkles Could you please test on vanilla. All bugs in the bug forum must be tested on Vanilla, that means no MCCC either.

Make sure to delete the localthumbcache file as well.

hello hello. it has been a while my apologies. i just tested vanilla and it does seem to be working without any mods/cc present in the game. 

@Spaceysparkles Did you ever found out which mod it was? I have similar issue with my Sim not gaining climbing skill when mountain climbing 😞

Hi @SanniSilli Have you tried a 50-50 on your mods folder? It's possible it's related to multiple causes.

Not yet! First thing I did was to hopefully check if others have had similar problem and if I could find an easy solution 🤭

I'll test vanilla and do 50/50 at some point, but it's not game braking (climbing machine still works for me, gives both fitness and climing skills) and I can mountainclimb so it's not that urgent ☺️

I've noticed they don't gain rock climbing skill while rock climbing, they gain like 6% all at once after completing a climbing session. Came to this page because I thought I had this bug but no, just not gaining while climbing by design.

There are so many issues with the climbing skill. Many exist for years but EA is too busy making kits then fixing it. Here are some I find either badly designed or plain broken:

- if your sim has a max fitness and climbing skill they still can’t attempt any climbing machine challenges because EA never removed the hidden climbing trait. Meaning your climber starts from basic. EA will probably say it’s by design. I say it’s because they were too lazy to fix it (no surprise there) and integrate separate packs (per usual) 

- if you start a climbing club and go to the gym or snowy escape where there is a climbing wall your sims will not do the one activity the club members should do. They will absolutely not climb

- your sim will do pushups in a wedding for no reason and to no purpose but passing the climbing challenge borders on impossible. I like the idea of difficult but catching on fire and 60 tries is not difficult. It’s broken. 
-building the skill is done in chunks instead of continuous like other skills which makes the task an absolute nightmare.

- building the skill through club doesn’t often happen for club members (not only because they do not do the activity) but also because it doesn’t work.
