Okay, so I got started testing, and I moved only my current save file into the new "saves" folder in the newly generated Sims 4 folder. The name of the save that generated has the same naming convention as my own current save, so I just changed the last digit of the new save. When I loaded the game, only my current save showed up when clicking Load Game. I moved nothing else--no mods, no CC, not even my Tray folder. I went ahead to the 40x30 penthouse in the Fashion District of San Myshuno, did the twirling and spinning with the in game camera, and although it lasted a bit longer, it ultimately crashed.
Next I removed my current save, left the new save (entered back its original number), and copied the contents of my Mods folder into the new Sims 4 Mods folder. Well, it never loaded up to the Main Menu. The plumbbob disappeared after a while on the loading screen and it just froze. The entire application froze, so I had to Force Quit (this has happened before when I generated a new Sims 4 folder).
Then I moved back my current save to the newly generated Sims 4 Folder i nits "saves" folder, removed the newly generated save (since they have the same naming convention I did not want one to overwrite the other), added Srsly's Blank Save (just to have another save file to test) to the new Sims 4 folder, as well as kept my Mods contents in the new Mods folder that I transferred in my previous step above. Same thing happened, the game never loaded even to the Main Menu screen. It completely froze so long that my screen saver came up.
Next, with the newly generated Sims 4 Folder with no Mods/cc plus the new save file it generated, I moved all of those contents to a separate folder for testing, and moved all of the contents of my previous Sims 4 Folder back into the newly generated Sims 4 folder (including my Mods folder), plus those couple extra save files (but NOT the newly generated one though because it has the same naming convention for some reason as my current save file). The game loaded. I opened the Srsly's Blank Save to test, went to the 40x30 penthouse lot in the Fashion District of San Myshuno, did the twirling for a while, and no crashing. I exited out of that entire save, went to my current save, went to another household's home in Del Sol Valley, twirled the camera, no crashing. Left that household (still in my current save), went to the penthouse in San Myshuno that I keep having trouble with, and before even loading up the lot just now, it crashed.
In conclusion, with the newly generated Sims 4 Folder, new save file, and no mods/cc, I could open the game, go to the the penthouse lot, twirl the camera, and there was no issue with crashing. However, once I added my own mods content to the newly generated Mods folder in the newly generated Sims 4 Folder, my game would not even load up to the Main Menu. When I removed all the newly generated content in the newly generated Sims 4 Folder and replaced it with the contents of my previous Sims 4 Folder (plus a few extra save files), the game loaded. In a new blank save file, the penthouse lot loaded and did not crash. In my own current save file, another lot with a household in it loaded, and did not crash. But that same 40x30 penthouse in the Fashion District of San Myshuno in my current save file either loaded then crashed upon twirling the camera, or like it did just right now, crashed the game before even loading up the lot.
Some questions I have: ⚽ why would my game not even load to the Main Menu screen when I had my mods/cc moved over to the new Mods folder in the newly generated Sims 4 Folder and nothing else? Is there another file in the Sims 4 folder that needs to be present in order to load my mods? 🏈 Does placing objects (decorative and functional) off lot using TOOL mod cause crashing in a save file?
