How are you trying to edit the retail lots?  Are you going to them directly from the map or are you trying to edit them by switching to build mode using the enablefreebuild cheat while you are visiting the lot in live mode?  

I bring this up because you said you can edit the hospital but not the retail lots.  The only way to get to the hospital lot is in live mode and you have to use the enablefreebuild cheat to edit it.  For just run of the mill retail lots like those in Magnolia Promenade that show on the world map screen, you can get to them directly in build mode from the map.  I've never tried to edit them from live mode so I don't know if you can even do it that way.  But I certainly can edit them by entering the lot directly from the map.

You should be able to do it that way too.  If you can't then, are you using any mods that affect build mode?

    sorry if i was unclear, i can edit them from world map just not live mode and the enable free build cheat doesnt work. I'm not very familiar with unowned retail lots so i figured it would be the same as editing a restaurant's configuration in build mode but since the cheat doesnt work and you cant edit it in live mode im assuming not? 

    i do have better build buy but since this also happens vanilla and i can still enter build mode from the map it seems like this is just by design and the cheat just wont work on retail lots.

    the reason i ask is because i placed a retail lot and the creator made custom outfits and they told me i had to manually change the employees uniform so i figured you would do it the same way you can edit a restaurant employees uniform in build mode but you cant aha so i have no clue how to do it or to have more than one employee show up.

    Then I would say the game is fine then, and not being able to go to build, even with the cheat, from live mode is by design.  Also, restaurants were added by Dine Out, not Get to Work so it doesn't surprise me that they have different editing rules.  Other packs also do, like Strangerville, where the enablefreebuild cheat doesn't work on the lab there.  And you can't even edit that lot by going there from the map.  So, different packs, different build rules.

    On the uniforms, that is a different issue and should have a separate post really.  Regardless, I've never tried to use CC uniforms.  But I do have a suggestion.  Check the CC uniforms in Sims4Studio to see if they are set for that.  I'm not sure how they should be set.  Easiest thing to do is to look at the game uniforms and see how they are set and then set the CC uniforms the same. Then they should show up for that use.

    sorry, i thought i said i could use build mode from the map. my issue was i wasnt sure if you could edit in live mode, sorry again if i wasnt clear!
