Add punishment for leavers in ALL modes

Title.

The punishment should be relatively low, mostly targeting repeat offenders. My suggestion is a simple 10 minute ban from all matchmaking (except firing range) after quitting.

Before, this would probably have been really annoying, with game crashes locking you out of the game for 10 minutes, but since they have added the ability to rejoin a game if you lose your net for a moment or game crashes, the times an 'innocent' player gets punished for it would be rare. Crash? Rejoin. Net cut out for a bit? Rejoin. Lost power or lost net for a while? Your 10 minutes would likely be up before you're able to get back on. Have to leave due to RL? 10 minutes ain't gonna be a problem for those either.

Who gets affected then?
The repeat offenders. If all these Wraiths keep quitting (I swear they're an outlier in this statistic), they're gonna keep hitting that 10 minute wait again and again and AGAIN. The idea is to make it so sticking it out when downed will get you into the next game faster than quitting. As a bonus, it'll give those that are actually raging a few minutes to cool off so they don't go into their next match enraged, which would increase the chance of toxiticy. In the matchmaker, it'll also slightly cull the numbers of those that keeps quitting every single match while they watch Youtube or otherwise kill time for 10 minutes.

Why all modes?
Because quitters have ruined nearly all event modes. Worst offender was definitely the 2019 Halloween event, where in the end, there'd frequently be around 10 shadows by the time there were 10 survivors left instead of the full 20 shadows there's supposed to be. It wasn't uncommon for the survivors to even outnumber the shadows in the end phase.

Anyone else fed up with all these quitters ruining the casual modes? Anyone else want a real step towards fixing the problem? Or got any valid reasons why leaving your teammates hanging dry every single match is acceptable behaviour?

  • @RedpawsQI don't think quitting in all modes should have as harsh a punishment as it does in ranked. I agree that leaving should have a punishment, it should be something like a 5 minute ban. Also, I don't think you should get a ban for leaving when you're a banner. Or at least you should be allowed to leave if you're teammate is across the map from you. I hate waiting in ranked for my banner to run out of time because my teammate ran away from the fight, and is looting across the map. Also, if the devs do this, they need to bring solos, because I could imagine a lot of sweats hating this new rule because it doesn't allow them to play solo. The devs need to add solos.

10 minutes is only harsh for those that do it on purpose

The banner thing is valid though. I'd suggest letting players quit early with no punishment if their banner is outside of the ring for 20~ seconds. I don't think range should be a factor though. At first I thought "fair enough", but then I realized this would just further encourage the solo players to drop as far away as possible from their team so they can quit faster when they die, opening up a loophole.

Would you rather have to wait for your banner to time out once every 10~ games or so where they completely abandoned you, or would you rather have a Wraith (Seriously, why is it nearly always Wraiths?) leave your team after dying (EVEN WHEN YOU WON THE FIGHT) once every second or third game, leaving you one player short even though you could easily have revived/respawned them?
