Technically, yes. Like literally any other video game ever made, unless we are talking about "learn french while having fun" products that have mini games in them and the like.

They are having fun in this game. Funny how that works. I don't like volleyball, nor am I good at it. So, I don't play it. But, I don't call it a pointless sport or useless.

(don't do that, though, but you should use internet more before delving into one of the most internet-ish things ever, such as multiplayer game chat).

Game is full of cheaters, wallhacks etc. In the end, what is the point to it? No one knows how to play it. Squadmates are idiots, full of cursing. They blame you after they get killed after landing in an enemy infested area. They're like, hey *, why did you let me get killed! LOL. Oh ok, let me run over there are revive you and get killed in the process. So dumb. It's the games' idiotic design that didn't take into account the mostly bong-smoking imbeciles would be playing it. So, in the end you have a total waste of time game. Guys only care to get in, grab a few kills and move onto the next match. Repeat. If that's what you're after in a game then you've been brainwashed into believing that's it worthwhile. It's like a snowball fight. Fun for a bit, then you're like. Ok, what else is there to do? It's really basically pointless.

Yes its pretty toxic.
I think these games are so popular, because the touch a core of human nature. It feeds the selfish and greedy mentalities. Its especially enticing in these fake troll times we are living in.
Its not really a team sport. Its an every man for them self battle royale, where you can rob houses, steal and hog loot from others players and out power them with better gear. And the most enticing thing, imo, is its not against one team. Its you versus everybody.
Most of the people I Play with are from 10 years old to 60, and almost none of them are avid pc gamers. Most of the people in this playerbase don't even game on the pc imo, or haven't in years, but flock to these fortnite, pubg games like bees to honey. Its a fascinating study on human nature.
Maybe the older players just think things will be different for them in this new genre, but I feel its that they don't have to be on a team. SO they definitely won't act like they are. ANd they know they won't be the only team to lose so feel less bad about it.
So not only are they very toxic on the mic, especially north america, but the majority are total noobs who seem like they never played an fps in their life. Super frustrating for the avg gamer qeueing solo.

I'm actually REALLY surprised how little toxicity there is, and I primarily solo queue. I can count the number of toxic encounters on 1 hand.

For Most Americans. the internet and pc gaming died about 15 years ago. The internet is now called facebook, twitter and instagram. And pc gaming is called league of legends. Thats the corner most of us have been backed into, since everything else was destroyed by russian spammers and trolls.
Not always the case though in other countries. For example in NA, Dota is even more toxic then this game. And hacked and cheated out by brazillians. But in Asia DOTA has a strong vibrant playerbase. But generally speaking. This industry dived with the .com boom crashing.
This whole BR thing is new on the scene, don't think I'll be lasting in it having to play with all these immatures and noob players. We'll see what happens.

Have you ever stopped to consider that the reason you can't enjoy these online games and the reason you encounter so much toxicity is your superiority complex? maybe these people are really toxic maybe you are the toxic one and they are just reacting to you

Yes me, and the many other people complaining about the same thing are the toxic ones. I seem toxic to you? thats unfortunate.
I think you are being disingenuous if you have ever solo queued yourself, and claim most people are cordial and good team players lol.
But I mean you want to see what toxic really is? Pick a twitch stream where someone is solo queuing and you can see for your self what its like. If you are lucky to get players who don't quit, they will be arguing on the mic most of the time. Maybe you are trying to convince yourself ?
People who let their young children play these games are just as clueless. also unfortunate.
I guess one solution would be to shut off voice chat. But then even more people would be quitting on ya. And not to sound demeaning or "superior", lol, but because these are not normal pc gamers. they do not type in chat and they can't even use the great ping system well.
Most people don't act respectful when they are anonymous.
