Apex legends abandoned penalty

I was fine in an arenas match(not ranked as I'm waiting for friends) and the game kicks me out says server no longer synced and I can't get back into match. And after getting back in game(main menu) I hit ready up to try to get a new match and then it hits me with an abandonment penalty for something I have no control over. It's just highschool all over again, someone else does something and the whole class is punished
