Apex Legends is now a waste of time.
I have played every season of Apex Legends and now consider this game a complete waste of time- and borderline unplayable for those who want to have a normal and balanced life! I write this respecting the fact that it is a technically well crafted team shooter game- but has been rigged so much that any average player, or random group of three random players have literally NO chance of ever being successful at it!
I've played over 5000+ games, and to be honest my kdr is now hovering at 0.49. At its height it was approx 1.5 -usually in the first days of a new season-, but am aware that people would label me as TRASH right away. I've heard that plenty of times. I've also been part of championship teams and have achi
Well GIT GUD! they cry, but the mechanics of the game are such that unless you go out and buy upgraded hardware for a console ( mouse, keyboard for PS4) or just basically CHEAT ( which I have never done!) you are going to be perpetually stuck in a quagmire.
NOBODY CAN HELP BEING IN WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. Nobody can help that server issues exist when you get caught in a maelstrom firefight and mini seconds slow down and you end up being wiped out. My old PS4 controller buttons just do not work quickly enough to say, do a slight dodging movement when fired upon to avoid damaging hits, and I can recognize when other players jump around like monkeys and still achieve 100% head shot rate that they must have something better than a standard PS4 controller.
My thoughts on playing with two other random teammates- especially in Rank Leagues
With such a huge player base, if you play as an individual it a HUGE LUCK OF THE DRAW who you are going to get! I've seen the full spectrum of the worst and the best. I worked hard to get a Gold Ranking in Season 4,but have a seen a fair share of higher ranking players make BAD decisions that I knew where going to lead to elimination. I've dealt with TOXIC teammates, teammates who pause mid game to check their damn Instagram, HOT DROP junkies who who seem to want to get wiped out in high loot places, Gossiping females who WOULD NOT SHUT UP and focus on the game, and angry hotheaded energy drinking teens who charge right into fights they have no chance of winning!
The shortest game I ever played upon landing with a squad was FOUR seconds. Upon landing the game slowed down , and while trying to open a loot container I was shot in the back by another player who miraculously managed to land ahead of me ( didn't see that on the way down). My whole squad was eliminated TWO SECONDS later!
Am I trash? I don't think so because I am PERSISTENT. But I am not a one man army , and can only do so much as an individual. One of the most absurd and unfair encounters I had was that with a Flatline ( Anvil Receiver) with Red shield that I was knocked down by a player at least 80 meters away from me ( with a Wingman) in a few shots- but my shots were barely scratching him! there are a lot of mechanics involved in this, but I do see the fact that even with superior equipment the game tends to record the hits on ME first before damage to the other player. Something doesn't feel right in regard to that.
On the flip side, I've been grouped with two other teammates who who were talking in their own private group, supporting each other and getting good kills. But they didn't give a damn about supporting me, nor did they bother to communicate their intent, then get mad at me when they get knocked down and I dont feel like walking into the ambush that's waiting! I DO NOT LIKE APPRECIATE OTHERS WHO TRY AND USE ME AS BAIT.
I can describe plenty of other ABSURD situations I've seen, but the bottom line is this:
You must have TWO others who are completely dedicated to game,, who EAT. SLEEP and BREATHE it, and you must mutual support each other every step of the way. For me as an individual, I value a balanced LIFE far more that say, geting to a Platinum or Diamond status.
UNLESS YOU PLAY THE GAME COMPETITIVELY AND ARE GOING TO GET PAID FOR IT-its not worth the time investment!
'Casual' players and/or Randoms may achieve some victories here and their but the game mechanics and odds are so stacked against you that you just become nothing but CANNON FODDER.
Final Thoughts
The game has been fun, fast paced and enjoyable when I was going up against people of FAIR and EQUITABLE ability ( and hardware!) Seasons 1 and 2 seemed a lot better in terms of having a reasonable chance- even though I did see my fair share of cheaters.
Season 3, and especially Season 4 have degenerated into hyper aggressive, hyper competitive sweatfests, with mechanics being added to make it more difficult
