  • @andre1hhh I thought matchmaking got better for ranked when I was in the Rookie and Bronze rankings, but nope. As soon as I hit Silver, I get to go up against Plat and up players, while my teammates play like a bunch of bots. What made it worse, was that my teammate's ranks were showing up as Silver and Gold, some of them were Plat players.

EA/Respawn said that they made the matchmaking better and removed the hidden MMR, but as of right now, the game still feels like it has that broken MMR mixed with a bit of EOMM. I say that because my first match of the day, I got two bots, and they both died horribly, and I respawned them, in which they ran off as solos and died again. Then my second match, I was given 2 different Silver 2 players, and they weren't "pros" by any means, but they stuck with each other, and me as a team, and in the end, we actually had won the match.

There won't be a 3rd match, at least not today, because I know a win means I get teammates who are without a doubt a bot, and the enemy team would be a bunch of Masters or Preds. I'm not in the mood to get curb stomped, so I'll be ending on a win for now.

    Different season, same matchmaking issues.

Edited 1: 3 hours later, I decided to get back on, and I was getting all the bots as teammates, while the enemy teams were master players in silver rankings.

So, just as expected, I get thrown into harder lobbies just because I had won a match. How fun. It also came with extreme lag, zero audio, and a popup that said, "we want your opinion", as the currency in the top right start loading with the tabs grayed out when I got sent back to the lobby for the 6th match.

In other words, Apex is speedrunning me uninstalling the game.

Edited 2: After getting obliterated for 4 matches, it put me in a ALGs match, where the last 7 squads were fighting in the end rings, like I didn't leave a POI for more than 10 minutes because everyone kept 3rd partying. Ended up placing second, but like... this isn't "silver" lobbies, this is diamond and up lobbies, so why am I forced to grind out harder lobbies in a lower rank?

The ranked mode matchmaking fully, and only, relies on ranked. So if there are master skill players in silver, and you are in silver, then you get to play against those masters.

Since high skilled players can start at any time during the split, and/or make smurf accounts to do a "rookie to ...." challenge, you always get to play against high skilled players.

You just liked the rookie and bronze games because you got to stomp lower skilled players. Congrats.

@Anjunakrokus ???, With that logic then there should be good randoms with my supposed high level, it is impossible to play a pub game because it seems like a masters rank, and obviously I am NOT a master, and if I were it would still be impossible, because the game does not match with masters in my team, you are defending the indefensible with a bad excuse.

@Midnight9746 the same problem in every season but it’s rank, I can ”””understand””” the high level in low elo, but PUBS???, why preds n master?, and my team lvl 25/50 or silver badge on the banner

@andre1hhh Yeah, pubs is a different thing. Realistically you shouldn't be going up against those players that often.

@Anjunakrokus Actually no, Rookie and Bronze was a climb to get out of, it just felt different as I started on day 2 or so of the season. So, I was actually in lobbies with higher skilled players. What had helped is that you don't start losing points until you reach silver.
  • @andre1hhh That's only true if there are enough masters soloqueing. If most masters are playing in a full squad, then you won't ever queue up with them. Not only that, but it is also likely that the team that kills you is better than you. This also means that masters survive longer and are thus more likely to kill you.
Because skill factors into winning and surviving, you are more likely to encounter higher skilled players than if they were lower skilled.

Furthermore I'm not defending this at all, I'm saying that the concequences of the current version of ranked and of slightly poor matchmaking is even worse than you would expect.
The fact that players are matched against masters and pred in silver is rediculous! But it is also utterly predictable, because that happens when you matchmake purely on rank
