Apex Pulling Me off My Local Server
Every time I play Apex, I look at my ping indicator. It always without fail reads 90-130 ping. Then I look at my nearest data center which reads, 20-25 ping. This isn't adding up. I saw a video explaining that Apex is potentially pulling people off of their local server for matchmaking. Some investigation also shows that some servers are not where they say they are. Whatever is going on, this constant lag is unbearable.
My internet is not to blame, my console is hardwired and my internet is very fast.
For reference, when I play Rainbow 6 Siege with my friend in Pennsylvania he has 90-130 ping when I host (I am on west coast). And the reverse happens to me when I play on his servers. My theory is that I am being pulled to an east coast server for matchmaking for some unexplained reason.
OR The servers for this game are literally made out of soggy cardboard and being held together by a couple rubber bands and some used chewing gum.
I would really like to hear an explanation on this, but I know I probably won't get one. Everything has to be a secret with Respawn, or at least the Apex team. No game I play, even gets close to 100 ping, but in Apex it happens every game.
I can't and won't play like this. Maybe I will think about coming back if this and the constant bugs every patch get fixed.
- @Kateh8sapex They told me to open up ports for the game by contacting my ISP or doing it myself. I shouldn't have to open up ports like that to play a game. I play several other online games, and while I do lag in some, for the most part I have decent ping. Apex on the other hand, it's anywhere from 80 ping to 400+ ping, usually averages at around 125 ping. That's even when I am "connected" to the local servers in my area.
