Apex Servers are worse than ever... New hope though?

hi all, especially EA,

Everyone can see that the Apex servers are even worse than before. I didn't know it was possible and the game is still "running"...

Apex is so brutally degraded by now that it's borderline unplayable: full of lag spikes, magic shots from me (opponent standing still and waiting for me to execute), magic shots from others (I get hrarararara shot dead under 100ms, and log says it was 25 bullets from one guy), SWAMPED by cheaters on every level with zero recoil, lag switching and all the ugly imaginable - feels like PC cheaters can again join consoles with some trick... (Maybe MS secretly really did the merge of XBox with PC due to low number of XBox players?), endless list, really...

Posted about this earlier here, I thought that was the bottom of the pit, but since then it's a million times worst...

Now the question to EA!

EA got bought from some Saudi pocket change amount of money ($55B, I guess it was a 10 years calculated RoR). Even though the company is headed by Jared Kushner, who is totally not Saudi sadly (those billionaires tend to be generous for they are not stealing their money from tax payers, but making it from selling oil),  can we finally expect some investment in this game?!

It would be THE BEST battleground game out there (as PUBG is by now also trash, suffering from the same backlashes this game does, plus TPS...) if it was fixed, settings (e.g. # of bullets to kill) were set back to the original and most importantly, servers weren't potatoes...

If this doesn't happen very soon, and e.g. BF6 won't be the bloody mess (as usual lately), and a swamped cheater heaven (yeah, yeah, the magical Javelin - which will prove a joke for OBVIOUS reasons...), Apex is done I think. But I like it too much to just let it go...

So... Can upgrade be expected or this game is done and will go down the sewers as soon as anything reasonable comes out (if ever) in the genre?

Thanks for reading this silly rant :)

  • I can't comment on the server issues as I'm not a tech expert, but I'm taking the news of the potential EA acquisition/investment positively.

I have high hopes that the involvement of Silver Lake (a specialized technology investment firm) and Affinity Partners will lead to significant technical advancements and improved game development quality.

  • raditz112 not sure which region you are playing but in my experience since so called migration to Amazon? gaming servers Apex actually has felt more stable than ever.

Yesterday for the first time I got quite consistent packet loss / lag at first few minutes of the game like every 3-5 games but then it was fine till the end of the game.

Also hitreg issue seems to be better / gone, one of the 2X seasons it was very bad.

The rest - lagswitching, massive bursts of bullets at once etc. = well that is good old hacking situation in Apex. I would blame low ego players for that for 99% of the damage done and maybe leave 1% of a blame to Respawn and servers.
People are just bad at losing / accepting the fact that players who train and grind should be much better than weekend players with controllers => which in turn creates situation where you can't really know how good / bad you are as pretty much every game now even at Gold level is infested with at least a few hackers / hacker 3stacks.

My benchmark to understand the issue:

    1. Apex Legends grind
    2. Aim training grind
    3. Other games in my case Valorant grind

And then you can compare offline skill level vs online in multiple games. And it might feel e.g. that Valorant servers are (maybe they really are) more stable yet at the same time combination of peeker's advantage and insta time to kill on the other hand makes it feel equally frustrating at times as Apex hackers / server lag.

EU but also tried US with a risky 120ms ping when it was a living nightmare both for me and my mate (and we live far away, different ISP, network, etc). I don't know how you see things are better, many, many people complain on different forums that it's worse than ever and EA likely cut budget again so servers now are even weaker than before.

Side note: No such experience in other games. Even though we hate it, when it's intolerable we go and check Fortnite and runs like magic...

As I said such is my experience.

I am from EU, playing on EU side with ping between 45-70 and easily have played splits / seasons in NA East / Central before and even yesterday (I play at nights, EU servers get infested with hackers after like 1AM -> I switch to NA side). There I am playing on constantly at least 110ms ping up to 170 ms ping.

For me 110ms require little to no adjustment from 45-70 = basically just need to keep in mind to lead your targets a bit more + remember that when you peek and see enemy they are probably already shooting at you, get similar effect the higher the ping to the one where people hack with lagdelay / burst fire aka you get 200 damage in split second.

170ms is already trickier, for sure more challenging in close range dynamic situations but overall still playable.

People have different opinions and most importantly I see LOADS of people complain about connection WHILE playing via WIFI :D I mean do some basic research, make sure you WIFI is at least configured correctly and e.g. not introducing extra lag, is even gaming compatible not some cheapest budget version from local grocery store etc. Long story short - people want "plug and play" experience in competitive shooters online that not only involve complicated connection/server architecture but also lot of skill - mechanical, logical and technical (if your goal is to be really competitive).

p.s. that's why you see so many hackers who in most cases are just low self-esteem players with low overall skill/knowledge set. They come online, start vs "bots" like them but soon enough run into "normal" hardcore grinder and it seems to them like night and day -> they probably hacking -> so they switch from being "bots" to being "bots" with software or hardware hacks. Because learning, educating, researching is for idiots aka "I don't have time for that". In comparison I have probably close to 20k hours invested in Apex alone all in all - playing, training, researching, tinkering with settings in game and on PC, hell I was even considering switching ISP / getting 2nd dedicated connection just for gaming to see how that improves ping.
