Apex Why? hy Duels?

Duels is incomprehensible to me. I guess using it as an aim trainer is one thing, but as a form of actual gameplay it has to be one of the worst ideas they've come up with in a long time. You can't choose your legend or your weapons and the two of you spawn on either side of the same rock and the circle makes the map roughly the size of a postage stamp. Are they trying to test peoples' aim or their patience? Or the quality of their internet connection? Or how recently they took their Ritalin? Or whether their aimbot subscription is paid up? I just absolutely do not get it. At all.
