Best Maps for ranked?

I'd love to hear what everyone has to think about the best ranked maps!

Here's my list:

  1. ED
  2. Storm Point
  3. Worlds Edge
  4. Broken Moon
  5. Olympus
  6. Kings Canyon

  • I'd love to hear what characteristics make a map good or bad in your opinion. And I'd also be curious to understand why ranks have anything to do with anything when it comes to map design.

How much dead space there is really affects it for me. In some maps like KC, there’s valleys where I feel like there’s nothing I can do to stay alive. But for maps like ED, there’s so much cover and you can play practically anywhere.

Maps for ranked are important because you need to be able to play in a variety of places to make endgame. If there’s not a lot of playable area then the end game will be boring because people aren’t going to live that long.

a map with good rotations like world edge, storm point, or ED is great because there’s a lot of natural cover via hills or buildings too.

also , maps needs to be big enough so that you can’t just 3rd the next POI 30 seconds after looting. That is how ranked and maps coincide in my opinion, it being ranked is very important as it’s supposed to be far more competitive than pubs.

I get it... sort of. The thing about "dead space" vs. "playable area" almost made me laugh because, as they say, one man's paradise is another man's hell. I personally despise close-quarters combat and all the cover on E District. I prefer a good mid-range weapon and I live to poke at the people who let themselves get caught in the open and don't have any response. But I definitely see what you're saying.

I don't mind the wide open areas on maps like Storm Point because it's so big that there ends up being more ground to play. On KC, if you wanna run away and take cover you're almost certain to run into another team. On bigger maps that have this sort of dead space, you can at least retreat without running into another squad 10/10 times.
