Better teammate recognition in close combat...

Don't know how many other people have this problem but I find that in frenetic close combat situations it can be very difficult to tell the difference between teammates and enemiies. Player names don't display reliably or clearly enough, and when players have identical or similar skins it can be very easy to end up shooting a teammate or turning your back on an enemy.

I'm sure there must be a number of fairly simple ways to improve recognition, from L4D style outlines or glows to adding a colored armband or item of clothing to teammates. It could be made an optional system, with choices like "always on", "when fighting" and "off".

Maybe some people think it is part of the game and strategy, but when a teammate and enemy can look 100% identical it seems unfair to me... it's impossible to tell where people are with accuracy on the minimap and there is literally no other way to be sure than to start shooting (or not) The number of times I ended up dying because I wasted half a clip of ammo on a teammate, or turned my back on an enemy with the same legendary skin as my teammate is frustrating.

Please, Repsawn, this would make a huge difference to the game and could put an end to a lot of frustration.

TL:DR - Hard to tell teammates from enemies, please put in an optional system (outline/glow or team colored item on teammates character models) with "on", "in combat" or "off" choices.

  • This definitely needs to be addressed, when you're in q frantic gunfight and low on health it's basically natural instincts to shoot at anything that steps in front of you and if this happens early game you just wasted precious ammo or gave away your position. This exact thing happened once where myself and a teammate spooked each other and started spraying like maniacs, it was funny but I ran out of ammo lol, a simple green reticle would solve this

Good call, a reticule or crosshair overlay would work and probably the easiest to implement.... even just a small red x when you put your crosshair on a teammate would help... I get Respawn don't have a lot of resources for Apex, but surely your idea could be implemented without too much effort.

Just send a rattrace out along the aim vector and if it hits a teammate display little red x on the screen, jeez think even I could code that xDD
