Can someone come up with one example where multiple"enemy here" pings are useful

I can think of ONE: to illustrate which direction a spotted enemy is going (left to right etc) relative from your position. But this is ONLY useful before you engage in the fight and if the teammates you wanna communicate this too is right next to you so that your relative position to the enemies are about the same.

Other than that, I cant really think of one single situation when I benefit from having a teammate spam that ping.

  • If you are in a close range fight with that enemy team, that ping literally communicates NOTHING to you. Yes, I know that the "enemy is right here"; if you havent noticed, I have been fighting them for a while now and probably done 5x your damage you stupid random (is what I think 9/10 times when that happens 🙂 )

  • If you are in a long range fight or before the long range fight has started, ONE ping communicates everything I need. More pings just clutter your own screen and makes it harder to spot them.

  • If you do it to illustrate that you just got knocked, then you are just a noob. Yes, everyone noticed you got knocked, probably with 1/5 of the damage dealt Ive done (is what I think 9/10 when that happens =) )

Bottom line; I have actually started to play with pings muted as default when playing with randoms. Its literally 10x more harm than help.  I just wish that Respawn would actually play their own game and notice how its misused and then use their brains and let us customize that for instance item pings and banner location arent muted as well, which they are now.

  • @Balladalidila I try not to spam it, but I would sometimes ping where an enemy is, espeically when its the last person on the team or they're chasing the random teammate. This is to act sort of like a Bloodhound scan, but its more like <pings>, <nothing>, <pings>

I would assume that most people who doesn't spam it because they are frustrated or blaming also think like you, i.e they wanna be helpful.  I guess what I've realized is that those here-is-the-enemy-pings from downed teammates usually wont communicate any useful information.

I mean, first of all its very  easy to miss and ping at the wrong location but lets assume that the downed teammate pings perfectly at the enemy model. Then we have the problem that that ping only make sense from his position relative to the enemy. If I am approaching the situation from another direction, it doesnt really tell me anything about the enemy's position other than he most likely is pretty close to the downed teammate, at least in line of sight. But I already know this.  Also if I am that close, I generally have no problem of detecting enemies based on sound.

I guess the only time it would be useful is if the enemy is sitting totally stationary and try to hide. If he heals, I will hear it and the pings will just be obstructing. But if his plan is to sit and hide for some reason, then I guess a ping might help me. Anyhow; I have been fooled so many times by enemy here pings on the wrong place and spams might actually lose me fights when all I see is red markers everywhere. Guess my preference is to mute pings. Its just a shame all pings are muted.

@Balladalidila Fair point, although I've had fights where the pings had actually help keep me alive to the point where I was able to win the fight. My problem is with the non-stop ping where it sounds like the player just has a macro or autoclicker going.

Yes that is also annoying. I also find it annoying when people just keep spam pining their banners followed by the respawn beacon when they are dead, even if you are still fighting the enemy team that killed them.

I guess I just cant see no real use for allowing spam pings, whether it be enemy here, banner, respawn etc. I think 1 ping every 3 seconds or so would be enough to cover almost all situations and  I think Respawn should go by the reality of how things play out in games, especially with randoms, and do something about it. Ideally people would know when and how to ping but sadly, this is far from the situation in reality. I mean as a matter of fact, a teammate getting knocked IS the communication that "enemies are here" by default. To be able to spam "enemy here" 10 times every time in happens is pointless.
