The key is to not be in the storm when the ring is closing. The game gives you fair warning and time to move. Spend less time looting and more time engaging others. Did you know most of the time the enemy will have similar gear that is at the unlooted locations?
a battle royale has like 3 objectives... looting, fighting and not to stay outside the ring. thats how battle royale works. you cant just make one easier just because its sometimes a challange when you take the risk to stay outside longer.
- DarthValtrex7 years agoHero (Retired)@Rastigani if you land on the far side of the map, then you can't loot much, so because of the Storm you're now unable to complete one of the 3 objectives you suggest. There is almost no time for looting and you can't out run the storm. It will be as fast as you. Toss in that you'll have to deal with map terrain which slows you down substantially.
I understand what you're saying the object is to stay out of it and I try too. But it's kind of hard to do that when you can't get away from it. If you bump into an enemy squad as you are moving towards the circle you will be toast, there is absolutely no time for the fight.
It's even more frustrating to be running towards circle bump into enemy squad, down them and be heavily damaged. Be slightly over taken by the storm, running up hill and have no way to get out of it... You now just died from the storm and poor game designs IMO. I'm not asking for a huge difference, but enough to were if you're running out of the storm you have the ability to gain ground on it.- sireladio7 years agoRising Adventurer
I honestly am laughing at the idea people are complaining at what seems to be the first storm.
Out running the storm is actually very easy and I think I have died twice in my whole time playing due to the storm. Normally because I have had to fight in the storm against a team camping at the edge. If you know the map layout you can easily fly from across a large percentage of the map using jump towers.
Running - Takes around 4.05 minutes to run from one end of the map to the other (Caustic Used)
Run + Towers - Takes around 3.10 to run from one end of the map to the other (Caustic Used)
So the idea you can not out run the storm is honestly a joke and you failed to learn the map. PS these times could easily be improved.
The issue here is a lack of time management by the player. I see way to many people still looting while the storm starts. - 7 years ago@DarthValtrex you kidding right? no time to loot? you have enough time to loot every lz on your way to the ring. there is plenty of time with the ring starting that far out of the map. and with jumptowers you jump across the hills to the next LZ, you just have to know the map .and even if you get in the storm, it makes near to no dmg in the first phase. more than enough time to get to the next jumptower.never had a problem with that, as long a i loot fast, and not stay around watching inventory and staring on items for minutes

@RastiganiNot really, what platform do you play on? I'm on Xbox and I just landed at swamps. We did not have enough time to loot all of swamps and that was running through buildings quickly. just picking up what I saw and not really stopping.
I hit the jump tower in swamps and was not in the storm. I landed at Labs went through the portal, this is where the storm caught me. I flew to the next nearest tower, doing so put me deeper into the storm. How ever skipping jump towers and running would have done the same damage or possibly been worse. There is a lot of map terrain there that you have to climb over. None of it is downhill so you can't slide to gain ground on the storm. Toss in that I only had 2 syringes, I could NOT make the run and get out of the storm. My only hope to get out of the storm was the jump tower.
I then flew directly towards the circle which was near Cage.. I got close to the circle, but was badly damaged from the storm.
I tried to heal as soon as I landed, that required switching the up button on the D pad from shield cells to the 2 syringes I had. Switching that takes time and slowing down (more damage in the storm)... I go into a slide start healing.
I try to stand up to continue moving/walking out of the storm.. Character stops healing as they stand up, and I get knocked down.. Heal sooner? There were other squads in the area, slowing down was not much of an option. I also hit one jump tower after another with out slowing down/walking at all. As soon as I landed I went straight for the heal but was already close to death.
I'm then finished off by a squad who was closer to the ring... and had taken almost no damage from it.. So they can dilly dally and loot my death, then just trot right into circle like nothing ever happened.
Perhaps I should have just ran? Instead of use the portal and towers? That takes even more time because you have to climb map terrain especially in that part of the map. It's not smooth and open like other parts of the map. Since you can't run faster than the storm if you slow down for any reason, you will get caught up in the storm and have a difficult time getting out of it. Every single thing you have to climb will slow you down and put you deeper into the storm.. Slide to gain ground? 99% of that run is up hill. It's not until you get to the cage area that you can slide down hill and gain ground on the storm. Jump towers? Well I tried that and it did not exactly work out.. There were almost no options for me aside from take garbage loot and likely die because of it, hope to avoid people until I can find some death boxes. But... my squad mates were well looted and looking for a fight.
Keep in mind most of Labs was unlooted and the back half to 1/4 of swamps was unlooted as well. My team was just slightly ahead of me.. But they looted the front half of swamps and were fairly well stacked. I could have stuck with them but all I would have had was a RE-45 and maybe 40 ammo and a white shield.. But no helmet backpack or any other basic loot and aside from two syringes and 2 Shield cells I had.
So let's say I do that and stay alive.. I would have then been going through a bunch of areas that already had been looted.. Hoping that we avoid conflict and hoping that I can find some death boxes with a blue shield or that we can third party a group. So that I can at least get blue shields and some attachments to the guns I have..
Don't drop to those locations? I try to avoid it when I'm jump master because the circle is rarely in those areas and it's almost always the far side of the map. But I'm not always jump master and people do get challenges in those areas of the map. There is a reason people avoid swamps and it's not because there is garbage loot there.Swamps typically has decent loot for all squad members IF you have time to loot it, but most of the time you don't.
