Can't change EA Account ID

I want to change my ID, but I got an error message saying 'ID contains a prohibited word or character'. Obviously the validation is wrong because I don't use any bad word there and I've seen people with racist, sexist or vulgar names.

In case anyone ask what ID I was trying to set - 'fukuro' - it means owl in Japanese. It is really annoying that you can't put some normal word because someone set the validation wrong or maybe the person responsible for validation was paranoid?

I believe the the word I am trying to use it regarded as English '*'. Well, if I want to use Japanese version for that profanity which is 'fakku' I have no problem registering my ID.

  • Hi @NolanGraysonnn
It could be because of the first three letters, although they don’t really mean anything they could represent another word.

The only solution is to use a different name or change the spelling slightly, I don’t think there is a way around it otherwise.

I agree it can be a little OTT at times.

  • Hey hey slow down there buddy you can't say any of that stuff on the forums.  👿

  • EA is just plain stupid, just keyboard smashed random letter and even they're "prohibited". Only having to do this because my other account wont download or update a game that I PAID for
