  • @Midnight9746 I'm gonna try to get you to elaborate on your statement. Why was the game better without the rampage? What does the rampage do that makes you feel that it needs to go? Is it unbalanced, is it a cheater's gun, is it taking up too much space in the loot pool? What's the deal here?

    @reconzero

    Before the Rampage, gun fights were more simple, sure EVA shook the game, along with other guns, but its litterally the main gun people are using.

    Furthermore, its a cheater's best friend. All they have to do is use no recoil (which yes, they can do that with any gun), the problem is, even with all the nerfs, the Rampage only needs to hit you 7-9 times give or take. A lot of fast firing guns are close range, so people just sit in mid-long range and just destroy you with it.

    When I use the Rampage, sure I miss shots, and still die, but I can crack purple armor after about 4 shots, often before someone finishes unloading a single mag. That's insane.

    Slower rate of fire means its also much easier to correct your aim, so you can hit the target easier before having to reload. Its a noob friendly gun.

    This game is suppose to be a skilled base game, instead its just "lol I got a gun that's basically a Kraber body shot".

    The gun also feels unbalanced, even with the nerfs to it, while the loot pool just needs level 1 items fully removed.

    Many players, and I'm sure streamers and pros also hate this gun, I can let you know if I find anyone else complaining about it, other than those on the fourms.

    My main point is a lot of guns require skills, Rampage doesn't require a lick of skill. You can simply hipfire it with no problems as well.

    @Midnight9746 Now that's what I was looking for. And I don't disagree with much, except to say that in general I'm in favor of anything in this game that allows me to fight from a greater distance. Not that I use the rampage for anything other than a place-holder - there are other weapons that I find easier to use over range. And for me the rate-of-fire on the rampage is so slow that I always get killed if I try to use it close in or from a distance. But that's because I'm a terrible shot, so I can see exactly what you're saying about the weapon in general use.

    I honestly feel the Rampage is on a good spot right now. Its viable and good but I think most high elo players usually switch out a Rampage for a Longbow, WIngman, R301, any shotgun or Flatline if they could (ofc depending on their second weapon and what style they play etc).

    Whats makes the Rampage a good addition to the arsenal is that its quite unique in its niche, which imo is how the devs SHOULD think when they design new weapon rather than just make new guns slightly different than an already exisiting gun. The Rampage packs a punch per bullet but is balanced by its slow fire rate and therefor also relatively low DPS.  At higher elo, I think most people would agree that in close range fights, where most kills happens, DPS  or one-shot potential are the most important attributes for a gun. You want do be able to dash big damage but minimize the time you are exposed for incoming dmg.  Peak, do alot of damage and then back into cover during the reload etc etc.

    And here is why the Rampage is quite balanced; sure you do much damage per hit but the since the low DPS, you must stand longer exposed to enemy fire during the sprays. Sure, you can use it a single tap gun and peak and repeak covers but in that niche, a Wingman or Longbow is much better. Also, the low rate of fire makes every missed cost you much more % potential dps which can be devastating for the outcome of a fight..

    Just my opinion and I honestly dont see THAT many rampage users, either in Pubs or Diamond3+ lobbies. The situation where I can imagine Rampage is OP is at low elo games, like Gold since most people aim quite badly and rely on jumping around, hip firing. In those situations, I guess the damage per hit and big magazine capacity far outweighs its weakness of low dps/rate of fire

    @Balladalidila To me, it's an annoying gun to see being used. I run into masters and preds using it in pubs, and plat and diamond users using it in ranked, all in which shoot it in a straight line, but then when I use it, it's all over the place. But even with the nerf, if I move alot, I can kill the enemy before they have a chance to get me instead, as the Rampage seems to offset a lot of people and makes them question how I'm going to shoot it. Rampart's ult is usually the gun that throws me off and I don't know why.

    Hrm I dont know if I fully understand you tbh but it seems to me that it just proves that its quite the opposite of a "noob gun" then? Like I said; due to the low rate of fire, its a very "high risk/high reward" kinda weapon.  Its default clip size is 28 rounds and it has a rpm of 300. This means it will take 5.6 seconds to empty a clip when spraying, right? But because this very low rate of fire, it means that your trace aiming must be on point on the enemy model EXACTLY at the 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6. and 0.8 of each of those 5.6 seconds of the spray to count for a hit. You can trace aim almost perfectly but if your crosshair happen to be just outside the enemy model right when the bullet is released from the gun, it will be a miss and you just lost so much of the DPS..

    Me personally, I would rather have them remove the Charge rifle from the game. Not because I think its very OP but same reason as you have against the Rampage; its just super annoying =)

    @Midnight9746 Interesting to me that you're calling out all the low rate-of-fire, minimal recoil weapons, weapons that don't require constant onboarding of adderall to be able to aim. I'm afraid you'll go after my beloved tripletake next...
