Ive said this before but, caustic is such a unhealthy legend for the game.
He's not useless since the nerf, can still do lots of damage with traps and ult.
And for how easy he is to use it doesn't make sense to have him be able to pump out mass amounts off damage, his gas shouldnt be a tool to just get cheap kills.
I think all the caustic mains/fans I've seen complaining is down to the fact they depended on his gas far to much for damage and kills
Fair enough most pub games don't go into final circle, more so ranked, and pro play, but when they do, his ult was just ridiculous.
I'd still probably say he traps are more useful and versatile than wattsons fences.
I font get all this cryin on caustic he is still Best area denial legend. Traps are working great. Moment i see coridor guarded by caustic and i dont have 2 + grandes to chase him out i back off imidietly. His Traps are greT multi tool as thay are usefull for resing your team m8 and providing em oportunity for heal bit more saftly. So even with all nerf he is still super respectful and make enormus diference. People cry cose he was probably way op before and cant handle the balancing. But caustic is one bad * i love having one in my team as much as i am always waryed to fight against one
What you said about backing off just means you have a brain when it comes to pushing ppl. Congrats to you on that and I mean that sincerely. The ppl who got caustic nerfed were the ones who pushed with no plan and raged when they died. The problem is ppl don't wanna think like that when pushing in apex. I get it, it makes the game faster with no strategy or skills getting in the way. If you want a game like that though ppl can just go play Cod in my opinion where the most you gotta worry about is claymorea and a 5yr old screaming in your ear. Abilities are in the game and shouldn't be nerfed just bc ppl don't like the strategy aspect of a fight in their way. And anyone who thinks caustic is still viable, you're very wrong. I've had almost every match with me and my friends taking turns as caustic and ppl push us in his ult and multiple canisters, kill us all and walk away after with no issues. Before the nerf that would've never happened. There's a glitch now too that I've been seeing where if you combine a canister and his ult it does 6dmg per tick to ppl instead of the 10 per tick that's supposed to be happening in that case. No matter how you look at it he's useless now unless you're pro lv with aim and movement and lets be honest, no caustic main is that lv. And another thing if apex isn't supposed to be ability reliant then they should have no problem nerfing horizon amd wraith into the ground and they haven't yet. Wonder why that is? Pros and the like cough... Cough...

thb i wouldnt mind a damagenerf in general,
but in combination with the heatshields it is waaaay too much
they are good workarounds against caustic gas/ult in later circles.
but we have to wait a bit, i feel like caustic is very weak on kings canyon anyway....
