You're completely wright, the new caustic nerf made him useless, now in game I can just run through caustic gas like it's nothing. Although it still damages, it hardly does any, the only reason people would play him was to repel squads away from that area or hold them back, but now you can just run through it without taking any major damage to your health. Hopefully Respawn will buff him again because he had a huge nerf.
Honesty i wuld not give him damage buff. Imo all damage abilyits are u fair to some point. But wuld give him some buff wile he stand in his own gas. Dont know passiv heal or invisibility aslong as not moving ar using gear. All area of efect abilitys thet deal direct damage are problematici end game. Especialy damage thet goes directly to helt cose in fight end rings u gona replanish shields but rarely have time to replanish helt. And being killed by abilitys in completly shrinken ring where u dont have any manevar space is just broken. Imo forcing costic to realy on gun same as others is good thing and damage shuld stay low
