I'd like to know what genius thought Caustic should effect his team. Good way for groups to fall apart because I dared to like the crazy scientist

Seems like a plus for Caustic to me.
His dmg should be slightly improved, i guess they should also add a dot to it.
But he can literally turn a house into a bunker by blocking the doors, and still trap the outside because it is not really limited in the number of traps. He has real advantages that must also be taken into account to balance it out.

he can use up to 6-7 gas traps. After that many his other gas traps start to go away if you place more.
Just saying.

@Braergor No. Teamates' ult DO NOT damage nor affect you. On the other hand, your own ult (if you're gib/ban) will affect you as well as the enemies.
Back on topic, imo caustic needs:1)His passive be changed to : Gas applies a DoT (damage over time) to enemies that lasts about 4-5 sec even after they leave the gas clouds. DoT damage and longevity (how long it lasts after leaving the cloud) increases the longer an enemy remains in the cloud and by the amount of gas instances affecting them (ie: an enemy affected by multiple gas sources such as 2 traps + grenade are affected more severely than somebody only affected by a single trap). Enemies affected by his DoT can be seen by him like bloodhound sees enemies with his ult (but in yellow/greenish like currently) so that now enemies are still visible for Caustic for a while after they leave the cloud(s) of gas.
2)His gas doesn't affect teamates.
3)His ult needs to cover a wider area. Also, enemies that die (from anything) while still under the effect of his grenade refund a % of his grenade and traps' cooldown.

No. While their ults do disorient allies, there is no friendly fire in this game.
After more play time, I have re-evaluated my opinion. I would make this suggestion:
Once an enemy has been identified in green within the gas AoE, and Caustic has also entered the AoE, when the enemy leaves the AoE Caustic still maintains the green target identifier so long as he remains in the gas AoE himself.
Causric can be relatively strong indoors, but his kit is weak in open areas. The map is mostly open area. The Nox gas often as not acts as a wall of smoke against Caustic. These few extra seconds of target acquisition would benefit his functionality without significant power creep. Particular outdoors.

Caustic requires only very minor improvements.
A bit extra throw range and speed on his traps, a bit faster deploy time on them.
Same for his ult, perhaps giving it larger range so it is useful more frequently (I often cannot have enough range).
With longer range traps, he can throw and trigger them on his own if he needs to. Faster speed makes them less a liability to use in combat.
Caustic has no defensive abilities, so his current set of abilities should 'cost' him less to use to increase his survivability .Its easy to think that he needs truely major changes, but a quarter second here, another 10 meters there, a bit more radius, it all adds up quite quickly to give him a usable kit. The most core thing though is that traps and/or ult are improved when he is on the go, to increase his utility in larger environments. Open areas form most of the game, and literally every other character deals with these areas better.
City fighting is important, but its not enough to only help in city's.
