Clarification Discussion about Battle Pass *Star* changes (grind increase?)

I was right, this feels freaking horrible. Normally when I start a season I get a bunch of levels real nice and quick. Now I am grinding exp for a measly 1 star that isn't even a level. 
What the F@3K guys? Why?
