Concerns About the Current State of Apex Legends

(console player)

Hi everyone,

I've been a dedicated player of Apex Legends since its launch, and it's a game that I've come to love deeply. However, I feel increasingly frustrated with the direction the game has been taking, and I wanted to share my concerns with the community and the developers.

Firstly, the matchmaking system is severely broken. Despite my higher rank(i am not perfect), I constantly get paired with teammates who are significantly lower-ranked. This imbalance makes for frustrating matches, especially when we go up against full pre-made master or even pred teams with 30k+ kills. The disparity in skill levels is demoralizing and takes away from the enjoyment of the game.

Additionally, it feels like the developers are more focused on releasing new skins and cosmetics rather than addressing the core issues that the community has been vocal about. While new skins are nice, they shouldn't come at the expense of gameplay improvements and balancing. The latest battle pass system, in particular, seems like a blatant money grab, prioritizing revenue over player satisfaction.

Moreover, there is a pressing issue with players using Zen devices to gain an unfair advantage. This, along with the persistent problem of cheaters, severely undermines the integrity of the game. The developers need to implement more robust anti-cheat measures and take immediate action to detect and ban those using Zen devices to exploit the game.

I believe that for Apex Legends to thrive, the developers need to start listening to the community's feedback and take our concerns seriously. Fixing the matchmaking system and cracking down on cheaters should be top priorities, along with ensuring that the game remains balanced and fun for all players.

I urge the dev team to engage more with the player base, conduct surveys, and consider reverting some of the recent changes that have negatively impacted the game. Our passion for Apex Legends is what keeps us here, and I hope that together, we can help steer the game back in a positive direction.

Agreed across the board. My personal problem though, is that they could fix all these issues tomorrow and I would still find myself in a game where, for the last five or six seasons, the developer has been deliberately trying to make it impossible to play the game with anything other than a full-sweat, run-and-gun, take no prisoners play style. They're trying to kill caution, circumspection, mid- to long-range gun fights, pretty much anything that isn't "drop hot, die, repeat." Even without all the existential threats like cheaters, smurfs, bad servers, etc., I'm still daily asking myself if this game has any room in it for me anymore. And every day the answer is "less and less."
  • @Skullypaco Correct on all points. Tons of fundamental issues making it increasingly frustrating and EA/Respawn are doing nothing about it. They just keep pumping out collection events, skins, battle passes (we get 2 per season now!), and an occasional new legend and map.
  • @Skullypaco you are not alone, but they don't care. They only want to squeze the last money out of their dedicated payers. All for a good annual report.
