Cross-Progression / Cross-Play

I know that I've posted on this topic in the past, but I've yet to hear any good news on this front.

Apex Legends is a fantastic game and I've spent hundreds of hours playing it on PC and PS4.  However, I absolutely despise the fact that my progress, skins, and coins do not sync between the two platforms.  I use the same EA account, it is the same game, and all of the progress/skins are the same between the two platforms (as far as I can tell).

I have heard the excuse that the game was not designed for cross-progression.

Minecraft launched way before cross-progression was a thing.  Now they have it.  Fortnite, Rocket League, and Modern Warfare all have cross platform progression.  Even the developers of Paladins and SMITE were able to add cross-progression well after the games were launched.  Do you really think all these games were designed for cross-progression from the beginning?  Or are the developers of Apex Legends calling themselves short-sighted when compared to the rest of the industry?

We are on the verge of the next generation of home consoles.  What happens if I have a PS4 this generation, but I want to play Apex Legends on the XBox Series X next generation?  I feel like cross-progression is a must going forward.  Who will want to spend the money to buy/re-buy cosmetics, coins, and loot boxes if they are stuck with one platform? Not me. It also makes me less likely to spend money now, knowing that I won't be able to carry my purchases with me into the future.

I kind of doubt this feedback will reach anyone who can make a difference, but hopefully.
