Crypto suggestions
Just going to list some ideas that could improve crypto as both a character and make him easier to play • animation of going between normal and into drone should be shortened (especially if drone is...
Yes, your ideas are along the same tracks as mine. Here's my take on Crypto right now:-
Why is Crypto underpowered?
Crypto's entire kit usage relies on him standing still for short-medium amounts of time. In a game where movement is king and many of the top-tier characters have movement abilities, it is clear that the current benefit that the drone provides does not typically outweigh the cost of being stationary and not having access to a movement ability.
What approach should we take to improving Crypto?
I don't believe that Crypto needs any re-design but instead Respawn could bring down the opportunity cost of using the Crypto drone whilst enhancing the payoff and still keeping in theme for the character.
What this means is we want to make Crypto have to be stationary for less time and make the drone abilites more powerful so it is more worthwhile to use them.
Practical & User Experience Considerations
DRONE USABILITY BUFFS
DRONE POWER LEVEL BUFFS
CRYPTO PASSIVE
The detection ability of Neurolink should just be a part of the drone. The passive I'm suggesting instead is called Closed Circuitry.
I believe that overall, these upgrades would make for a more well-rounded Crypto who was less dependent on being stationary and would have a touch more impact on the game without being overpowered.
Hmm there are some interesting suggestions here. I do agree that Crypto is severely handicapped in this fast-paced nature of this game. As he is the only Legend that remains stationary when using his ability. So instead of a 3v3 it becomes a 2v3.
Just to add another suggestion, it might help if Crypto can set a patrol mode on his drone. Like drones in the real world, so rather than having to leave it stationary, Crypto can have an option for it to patrol an area.
In drone mode he can use the trigger to pick a point on the map and the drone will circle that point as long as it's within range of Crypto. This leaves Crypto free to move to attack or loot. While the drone is still serving it's role as the eye in the sky.
And if he picks himself or an ally or even the enemy, the drone will follow that player at a fixed distance away, until it loses sight or leaves Crypto range.
Until the devs come out with a new recon legend, the current recons should complement at different ranges. Bloodhound is close to mid/indoors, Crypto is mid to far/open spaces, Pathfinder should then be far? (for another discussion).
