Its a game breaking bug, and anyone doing it should be banned for bug exploitation.
To reply to you in the same manner would probably go like this:
"I can't learn how to do something, so I want it nuked from orbit so people with better hand-eye than me don't have an advantage".
I play using a controller and toggle crouch, so bunnyhopping for me was never going to be super viable - but taking it out is a weird maneuver for a competitive game. Whoever brought up strafe-jumping and quake is on the money with this one imho. You learned how to do something and it afforded you more chance to outplay people - IF - you outplayed them. It still meant you were relying on USING the mechanic well.
It's not like the terrain exploit on the dropship where you can shoot out but not have bullets shot at you... or any of the other dozen small genuine exploits which afford a situational advantage.
It made something possible for everyone, which when used well afforded an advantage and when used poorly did absolutely nothing. Same has been true in 80% of FPS games since the genre came into being :S
- 7 years ago@Anlbrd the second Quake releases a battle royale with specific mechanics put in purely to add a risk/reward element to the game and force smarter plays (not BUG EXPLOITS), get back to me.

Yep. There was no risk/reward or smart playing in competitive quake where cash prizes were on the line.
You been playing games long? :P
- 7 years ago@Anlbrd the endgame is not the focal point of the decisions per minute that players make. Healing is a risk/reward based on: I have low hp, if I stop to heal I might die. I have low hp, if I stop to heal I have more hp. Is the chance of death worth the extra hp and subsequent reduced chance of death?
Instead, bunny hopping makes it so: I have low hp, I am unlikely to die if I heal despite doing it literally right in front of people shooting at me, so I will.
It is truly disappointing that you dont understand such a basic concept.
