Dropzone is the worst thing to ever be implemented.
It is the most horrible thing to ever happen to this game. If half the lobby decides to land at Capitol City because it has the best loot, you can rotate anywhere, you can get kills early and then play it smartly, and you can trust your SKILL to shoot your way up the ranks, that's how it should be. The whole "we want the endgame to have more teams" is the most dictatorial thing I've ever seen in my whole life. Who the hell is complaining about not having enough teams in endgame? Having less teams in endgame helps you rank up easier. Isn't that what we all care about? And the best players can land at Capitol City, shoot their way out, and then play smart later to win the game.
Dropzone requires so much communication, coordination, and teamwork it is meant for the pros, not the average players. It requires an insane amount of intelligence and leadership that is just not a reality for the common player. When I solo queue, all that happens is my teammates make horrible decisions throughout the game. We land in a spot that any intelligent squad leader would NEVER land his team, because it's just horrible to fight in, the rotation out of there is horrible, there's too much open space with no cover in the areas where you are going to rotate out of, the loot is spread out and not highly concentrated, and it just makes the game more difficult for no reason while completely taking away the freedom of choice and the ability for a good and intelligent jumpmaster to get his team going on the right foot. All that happens is my teammates who do not understand how to read our surroundings first, and then smartly engage, decide to push the team that dropped next to us, we get in a fight that is just destined for failure from the get go, and then we get third partied by the two teams who dropped near us because my teammates decided to shoot their guns and sound off to the world that there's two teams who decided to fight first like idiots just begging to get third partied. And then even if we don't get wiped, then we are just running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to escape the third party engagement in an area that I personally would NEVER be in if I would have been able to control where we land. It is not even competitive, it just because people running around like chickens with their heads cut off because they got third partied and are trying to run away through horrible areas of the map when there's teams evenly distributed all around them.
It is the worst idea I've ever seen. You need way too much coordination and intelligence and knowledge of when to fight and when to not which is probably what most common players lack. You guys are taking a game mode that is meant for pros and expecting it to work with Diamond and Platinum players. Even Preds don't know how to play smart sometimes. They push horrible fights where if the player pool was more competitive they would get absolutely wiped for pushing too aggressively against a team of good shooters who know they're coming, they're just really good at shooting so it works out most of the time. But if they were in a lobby with players where if they push stupidly and get caught out, they would get wiped in a matter of seconds by a good team. True survival combat intelligence is not something that is common enough to justify that tactical of a game mode.
The dropship automatically gives the squads with great leadership the upper hand, which is what they deserve. And the players deserve freedom of choice on how to play the game. A good jumpmaster goes like this....."ok wow 40 out of 60 people just dropped. good. let them kill each other. ok then that means we are going to land at a place that is uncontested, let the lobby kill itself, fight if we get a good opportunity, but if not it's fine, we'll get the kills at endgame so let's just be smart"
Or, here's another example....."ok not that many people dropped early. good, more loot for us. cool. i see two teams landing there. let's let them fight first like idiots, land slightly to the side of the POI, get some guns, wait for 1-2 people to go down on each team, and then clean house to get the easiest kills we've ever seen. Cool, we have the RP from kills and assists now, time to turn on intelligence and prioritize endgame and holding a building and having good rotations.
Dropzone just completely takes away the freedom and the fun of leading a squad to victory based on analysis and information gathered depending on the nature of how other teams dropped and just knowledge and mastery of the map.
It is the worst thing I have ever seen and I hope the community and you guys realize that it just completely kills the vibe of Apex being a battle royale.
