@Midnight9746Even before that. Before the new Evo system. Back when the gold armor was a thing. I much preferred gold armor over red btw.
Back then, he was pretty useless.
The only squad callout was by drone view marking a flag, which some places you can't see a flag.
I like the new version, anytime you enter or send out the drone get the notifier, that is nice.
But the main way I use him is banner recovery and instant use of respawn beacons, whereas everyone else is 5-8 seconds (ground-MRB)
A few years ago, when they gave crypto and ash free during the anniversary event, I was able to revive my allied lifeline while using drone view. Drone got shot then lifeline left, but I was able to attempt it.
A couple weeks later, the drone could no longer revive in drone view, and still can't.
If only they'd add something like that back.
Idea: Partnership Upgrades:
Each Legend has upgrades they offer to their allies, tailored to each ally.
Lifeline could get a revive shield perk from NewCastle.
People could get invisible revive and respawn from Mirage.
Crypto could get drone view revive from lifeline.
Crypto could get attack drone from Ballistic, allowing him to slot a third weapon, an unmodded sidearm, to use on his drone, using ammo from his inventory. This would disable the primary click cast ult and instead fire attached gun, using the normal ult cast button(s) to cast ultimate. PC = Z. You can naturally do that but most people like clicking to cast ult.
From Bloodhound crypto could get a perk to change drone view click from ult to a recon dart that scans in an area around it, or revealing a directly hit target for a few seconds. This dart would have its own cooldown.
As such, some perks cannot be used with each other, because of conflicts like that.
Octane could get boosted revive speed from Lifeline.
Etc.
Got any other theoreticals?
@Zulkiers The problem with getting perks based off of the other legends, (like Crypto being able to use his drone to revive when Lifeline is in the squad), would be the balancing and how many legend combinations there would be.
In other words, Respawn would have to add a perk for each legend combination and then balance those combinations to where they're not overpowered. This isn't something I see them doing as they're still having issues with keeping the current abilities balanced.
Keep in mind that the playerbase keeps coming up with a new meta, and Respawn then has to balance things to keep the game fresh. With Bloodhound and Bangalore, they both got nerfed to where they're not as useful together anymore, and using Alter's portal to avoid a Crypto drone EMP is no longer possible as teams in the ALGs used this to quickly push players without being slowed by their Crypto's drone.

It would use the same skill system as we currently have. Gain a level, choose a perk.
You would get extra options by having others in your squad. - Midnight97462 years agoHero+@Zulkiers The issue would still be balacing and the amount of perks they would need to add based on the number of combinations.
Let's say there's only 10 legends.
That's 9 different possible perks a player could get, (since they can't get one from themselves).
Then if they could get a perk from both teammates that's 18 different possible perks a player could get, which then means there's multiple different combinations depending on the teammates a player gets.
See what I mean here? There would be too much to consider and to balance out. - Zulkiers2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Midnight9746
You have the current perk system.
Add perks from teammates that you could choose.
It's easy enough to balance just like the current system.
I don't see the big issue.
