G7 doesn't need a fire rating nerf at all. It's Fire Rate is the exact same as Season 1. It does need the 34 damage as people refused to use the G7 in Season 1 and 2 and was the worse sniper in the game.
Double Tap is actually bad. It slows the fire rating down and only good at close range when people are too close to you. Most people will use the G7 on single fire mode only and ignore Double Tap or pick up double tap if they have no scope (default iron sights are bad with the G7 so you might as well use double tap to shoot two bullets at the person in the case).
People complained about the G7 when it got the width increased buff along with all other snipers. Personally, the G7 didn't need that width increase. It makes landing shots a little easy but not by that much. You still need to aim with this weapon and people will be strafing.
If the G7 gets a nerf. All the devs have to do is nerf the ammo? Why? Look at the current ammo below:
- 10/15/18/20
Now, 15 comes from a level 1 extended clip which is 5 more bullets/shots. Then a Level 2 is 18 bullets with the slight faster reload. Level 3 is 20 with the same slight faster reload as a level 2 clip. G7 is rewarded for landing shots on enemies. Right now you can get 10 more bullets.
If you want to lower the damage output, you will lower the ammo cap it can have. I recommend this:
- 10/12/14/16
the above ammo count is much more balanced. The R-99/R-301 even get two bullets at a level 1 clip. The G7 ammo nerf above will make it have 12 instead of 15 with a level 1 clip. Then level 2 clip will have only 14 ammo from 18. The purple extended light mag of level 3 will give the the G7 16 bullets from 20.
This is a fair nerf to be honest. The devs can also remove the width increase update as well.
G7 Scout still needs the 34 damage as it was a bad weapon in Season 1 and 2 and required 7 shots to kill someone (it did 30 damage back then). 34 damage is 6 shots to kill someone.
Look at the Longbow and Triple Take. Those require 4 shots (Longbow) and 3 shots (triple take assuming you landed all 3 pellets [69 damage per a shot]) to kill someone.
G7 Scout takes 6 bullets to kill someone.
@Leo_the_Lion25Oh, I'll add this to my question to you about '6 shots to kill'. You state how many shots each gun takes to kill someone, BUT that is useless data by itself. 4 Longbow shots takes time. You have pauses between each shot where you're not allowed to shoot again. As to your 'three shots from the triple take' example, that's flat laughable. Your example assumes they wait the 4 seconds between each shot for the choke to work again. By the time you are ready for shot 2 in that fashion, someone with a scout has emptied a magazine and reloaded and has started to put more bullets at you. The G7 seems to be like the P2020 in that as fast as you can click you get a shot. The problem with those types of guns is that there are tons of 'autoclicker' programs out there that you can tell 'click 6 times in .000001 seconds' and bind that to a key. So, have that bound to say Q and get a scout. Put the dot on their head and hit Q. Congrats, you just got 6 headshots faster than ANY other gun can shoot twice!
*edit* Also, how is your proposed 'fair nerf' anywhere NEAR fair? The gun can kill with 6 shots and starts with the ability to shoot 10 times. You can already kill someone without reloading, so making people reload more doesn't do much. I know, not everyone lands 100% of their shots, so having to reload after fewer shots *is* more annoying, but even with 10 bullets unless your aim is as bad as mine, you can knock someone every single time before you reload.
