General patch question/suggestion

Why was the self revive ever removed when a majority of the player base never wanted it removed? I know of people that took extended breaks from this game because of this move and they were big spenders on cosmetics. EA lost money where rhey thought they'd gain it by catering to what? 3 streamers? A couple pro players? There's thousands of people on apex that unanimously agree that we want self rez back. EA clearly doesn't care about their fan base and caters way too hard to streamers and pro players. The minority of the people that play their game. You guys realize that if the entire playerbase stopped playing except those streamers and pro players then eventually the game will die and even those pampered gamers won't be playing apex anymore cuz no one will watch their streams. I know this is an old topic but honestly u thought with the outstanding amount of complaints from it being removed we would have gotten it back by now.

  • Self revive was removed as it made end games quite unfair.

There were cases where a player was able to 1v2 and down the other 2 players, though since one of those 2 had a self rez, they still survived and the single person died to the ring, resulting in players winning by pure luck in the endgames.

A lot of players that were in a high rank have indeed complained a lot, though this issue was also present in other ranks.

In my opinion, self rez doesn't really have a place in Apex and overall doesn't bring much to the table except in very specific scenarios and it just creates a luck-based win scenario in the final ring.

I haven't seen someone ask to get self rez back for a while, so from my perspective I don't think there is much demand from the playerbase overall.

I will agree that catering to higher ranks isn't a good strategy, as they should mostly cater to the average player.

Though I personally don't believe that this change was something based on only the opinion of higher ranked players.

If we're going to start advocating for the removal of any item, mechanic, or feature that could be considered luck-based then just how much of a game will we have left? Would anyone recognize it?

Well luck is pretty much anywhere, though the gold shield is pretty much RNG put onto a pedestal.

It ruined pretty much every endgame I had and from what I've seen, there were definitely others experiencing it.

I don't think it's crucial for the game to have and so far it hasn't really shown negative results, what would be a reason to put it back into the game?

The current replacement seems to work out fine, and I believe it's better to only make changes when they're really needed.

I'd have to disagree. People still complain about it like once a month minimal in all the popular apex groups on fb/reddit etc. I made this account today just to ask this question because I saw a post with hundreds of replies with everyone talking about how they want self rez back and I agreed. I have even seen some streamers claim to want it back. Me and all of my friends who are masters every season and prior preds want it back. Rank/skill doesn't matter in this debate anyways, it's an opinion, and from my experience 90% of players I've met in the apex community enjoyed gold knockdown self rez, especially season 0 players. If the person 1v2ing could win the 1v2 then they wouldn't allow the self rez to go off in the first place. Plus by end game multiple people had them usually, especially if they were in the crafter. I miss those days and based on the countless polls/posts I've seen, im not alone. people always vote they want self rez back almost unanimously. Until today of course with your reply... there's one in every crowd i guess.

Side note, wild to claim a good reason for it being removed is because it's luck based. It's a battle Royale and a looter shooter. Luck is the name of the game. Good guns/good attachments/good equipment and early game shields. All of these can be luck based which seems "unfair" until it gives you the edge. Self rez wasn't even that OP as well. Very easy to hear and it takes a while. If anything nerf self rez so it takes longer than a teammate revive. But why remove it? Pretty stupid that they did that.

  • @sirrickydog2 You know this is the first post I’ve read that’s pro self revive. The game has a much larger, glaring issue, and that’s aim assistance.

Self revive rewarded players for over extending from their teams. There’s an amount of risk to reward decision making that should be involved when taking space. Revenant’s old ultimate rewarded teams by allowing them to take a fight with virtually zero risk. Again, another item that goes against this risk-reward decision making.

I would have guessed EA and Respawn might have been trying to promote competitive integrity all while simultaneously ignoring aim assistance. It goes to show they never had intentions of providing competitive integrity in their game.

So who knows why it was actually removed. My next guess as to why it was removed is, a hardstuck boomer ceo is shot calling decisions they have no experience with or impact from
  • @XHelperZ How is it luck based? The only luck part is the finding of the shield.... if you down a player make sure that the player has to shield themselves and uncover the potential threat and either deal with it at the moment or comeback for it..... it was hard to pull off a self rez because you was left unprotected (though the shields are useless nowadays since it does not protect at all) that you often just died instantly trying to res. Since the sound is really alarming to anyone nearby.
  • @XHelperZ Well "I believe it's better to only make changes when they're really needed." there are plenty of changes that could have been left out and never made in this game...
