SBMM is in the process of being removed as indicated in their official blog post.
Either way, it's probably going to take a long time as a lot of data is required to properly make adjustments to the system.
It's most likely going to be a more gradual change instead of an instant fix to anything related to the matchmaker.
And it's not exactly like we know what kind of systems they've incorporated into their matchmaking systems, so personally I feel like it's not going to be easy for us to exactly know how the matchmaker will work unless they release more information related to it.
