I posted the following as part of another thread but will put it here also.
gibby is by far the most op character ingame.. if wraith is hard to hit and takes 5% increased damage vs gibby who is easier to hit who takes 15% less damage (3 times more reduction than wraiths additional damage).. on top of this he gets an extra 50 arm shield points he also gets a dome shield to protect him and team aswell as increase the speed of healing and shield repairs and make him revive faster. he can also call in bombardments and is not effected by slow down like other characters when shot. this not only makes him a tank but a good healer support and offensive character, there is no other legend who is so multi role able.
also, I responded to your post, Gibby isn't op.
Wattson is a good defensive character who can heal teammate shields.
- 6 years ago@Sir_Named I disagree, rev is actually more limited now than before the patch in some ways. the totem for example before you was able to activate it and fight until 1 hit point was left then transported back to totem to heal. now you only have 50% health to fight with before being removed from combat. that's a huge nerf imo of the rev totem. I mean think you and 2 team mates use the rev totem and go and fight a team of 3, they have armour to break and 100 health maybe the armour is only white with 50 points but across all 3 that's 450 points of damage to deal while only having 150 points for your team to do it with. now given the range of the totem you might be able to heal that 50 points of health before going back to fight but how much actual damage can you do to the enemy team in return with such a small pool of health? and whats stopping the enemy team healing while you do and go back to them. the totem seems redundant now tbh. it would only take a few hits to be returned to totem, 2 wingman shots, 4 r301 shots, 5 r99 shots, 3 flatline shots, 1 peacekeeper or eva 8 shot..
as for wattson yes the machine thing she has does heal shields but only shields and its slow very slow although it does stop grenades and bombs it can be shot and destroyed easily as can the team inside the effect of its shield repair.
gibby shield dome stops all bullets grenades bombs makes gibby revive as fast as lifeline heal health and shields as fast as lifeline and gives the healing shields and health as fast as lifeline to his 2 team mates, there is nothing else ingame that even comes close to gibby dome shield effects on a across the whole squad basis or multifunctionality. gibby has abilities that not only apply to his whole team but are equal or better than multiple characters all in 1 character. his bombs are better than bangalore his dome shield is better than wattsons machine for defence his dome shield is as good as lifeline healing but effects the whole team, anyone who says gibby is not op is either using gibby or just plain does not understand that he has far more benefitting him and squad than any other team not using gibby. im not saying he is invincible but that does not mean he is not op.- 6 years ago
@lordalmighty1 The changes to Revenant's Ult looks like an improvement. It always seemed best for ambushes anyway so I don't care about the total health points he has before going back. I'd prefer risking just 20 health and gambling on breaking an enemy's shields or downing one before I'm noticed. The biggest drawback of his Ult to me was always coming back with 1 hp and being terrified of running into a Caustic.
As for Gibraltar.... yeah kind of? I don't like his recent buffs and he can be OP if he's part of an organized squad but your points seem kind of weak. He's always had a bullet proof dome and an Ult that can down multiple squads but was considered a joke character. The healing boost inside the dome is a nice buff but the revive is kind of "meh" without the changes to the gold back pack.
Whether you prefer his Dome of Protection or Wattson's Ult also depends on the situation.
In a building? Wattson Ult.
In the open? Gibraltar dome.
- 6 years ago@lordalmighty1 You must not have played revenant or looked to carefully in the patch notes. You can still take 100 damage, but you'll respawn with 50 health, and all your shields. (Or, whatever health you had when you entered the totem.) This was a straight up buff.
You can still do a lot with Revenant totem, especially if you surprise someone. If you laser them out of nowhere, they'll drop or at least have much less health and be a lot more vulnerable. Plus, just today, I got into a match in KC. Final 3, the other squads had downed one of my teammates. I used the totem and then went and got my teammate with very little risk to me. The totem is really useful. A lot of your point was kind of lost because it actually doesn't reduce your health in shadow form, just when you die in shadow form you are respawned with 50 health.
Well yeah, if you use the Pylon out in the open it can be shot. It doesn't provide immunity to bullets to your teammates either. Even if they shoot it as well, if you have an accelerant Wattson can basically instantly put up another Pylon. (I also think her ult charges even with a Pylon out, so you don't even need an accelerant.)
The Pylon also basically lasts forever, whereas Gibby shield lasts for like 10 seconds and has 30 second cooldown. Well, yeah, Gibby has a unique ability that can do certain things well. There just aren't enough legends to have many overlapping abilities, so yeah his dome will be unique.
A whole squad affecting, multifunctional ability. How about Wraith's portal? It can be used for many situations, like retreating, or teleporting a knocked teammate to safety, or rushing, or tricking the enemy team.
Or, again, Revenant ult, which can be used for a lot of things too.
There's also Bloodhound's scan, which is really good. Not really multifunctional, but it's a really good ability, especially with the distance buff.
His bombs aren't necessarily better than Bangalore. Both of those are more situational based, each with slightly different situations. His dome shield isn't necessarily better than Wattson's Pylon. The dome shield also blocks your bullets too. His dome isn't always better than Lifeline either. Lifeline is always available to help teammates, whereas Gibraltar has to wait like 30 seconds between dome shield, and his dome shield is very visible, practically a flare for enemies to come and third party you.
Also, with what heme725 was saying, Gibraltar wasn't op before his more recent buffs. He always had had these abilities, but was just a throw character.
I'm not saying he isn't strong, but that doesn't mean he is op.
