How is it a pain for you?
For me, I dislike how it makes my character turn in game to the direction I had to move via the menu.
The legacy/classic scheme for the thumbsticks means aim up/down on the right stick and left/right on the left one.
Using both sticks AND the Dpad is quite uncomfy as you can imagine. That's the case when you have to use the wheels right now.
