Here is the thing: I don't care about leaver penalties in Arena, but...
I care about the matches I'm in that have one or two missing people.
Once again I am forced to play Arena, a game mode that conceptually I find nice, but when it comes to the execution, I'm not really that impressed. Not only because the prime weapon choices will always be the same (Spit all day), but because as a marksman and a sniper, you have zero use in Arenas and just gotta pray that someone walks past your cross hair before disappearing behind the next building. Because we hand people a weapon that requires patience, in a game where you can't have a second of patience.
Anyway, since we had issues with people leaving Arenas, we introduced an abandon penalty of 10 excruciating minutes. Which only affects those people that have legitimate reasons to leave, and actual leavers abuse the system... So yeah... Better idea!
Compensate the team that was abandoned or has to bear with an AFK player. You know, if someone is AFK or leaves, I don't care about their burden of having to wait. Because that doesn't change my match in any way. No, what I could use is some compensation for actually being abandoned. You know, going after the style of "25% damage reduction when one team mate is missing, 50% damage reduction when two team mates are missing" - Because at least I could manage something if I had that. In the cases of people leaving, I either have to bear the burden of receiving an extra challenge, or I leave the game and waited all that time for nothing.
