Sorry to break it to you but if you were "a good player", you wouldnt have any problems getting a steady positive RP gain in Gold4 . And this is not meant to be an insult or anything. Its just ridiculous how many think they "in reality" are so much better than their current rank but are held back by bad teammates.  If you are better than your the average player at your current rank, you will advance, especially considering that Gold RP entry cost for matches is still super low in relation to the different ways to gain RPs (killing, placements). But If you are stuck in Gold4, it just means that your skill corresponds to Gold4, its simple as that, 

Not until you reach higher ELOS, like Diamond4 can you "blame" randoms if you play solo but the main reason for that is that a higher and higher percentage of the squads in every lobby also are premades so you need to even the odds and also because teamplay and strategy is becoming more important as you approach the higher elos.
