Hot take: the tap strafe aim assist trade-off sucks.

Both MNK and roller have one exclusive mechanic assigned to them: For MNK it's the ability to strafe, and for controller players, It's aim assist. Both are making the input stronger and for lack of communication from the devs, I would guess that they aren't getting nerfs because they balance each other out. And now of course my hot take: it sucks. Why? because they both impact the gameplay, But in different aspects of it. One helps you aim better, while the other helps you move better. And that makes the different inputs develop different play styles, one of them (aim assist) has a much greater wheight to it competitively, Which is why a lot of pros use it (Players switched inputs to get the competitive edge). I think that this is a bad sign. And I would like to propose an alternative solution: Bring controller strafing into the game, (Like the red jump-pads, but for the whole game) While simultaneously nerfing aim assist. As a controller player, I find that very acceptable and would make the game fun to play on controller (maybe less competitive, But for sure more fun). What do you think? Have a better idea? Feel free to share it.

  • Allow players to play in lobbies that do not have aim assistance enabled.

1.) The entire pro community would swap immediately. Anybody who values competitive integrity or wants to compete in tournaments would swap as well.

2.) Tier-1 organizations that have left the scene might even come back.

3.) 5 years of terrible community involvement and lackluster content by ea would be forgotten by most... Remember that three hundred dollar death box? It wasn't even cool. W.T.F.

  • As a controller player and also speaking for my mnk friends we all agree. The movement in apex matters to me so much more than AA and it would be great to do cool movement like some pc players I’ve seen. As for aim assist, I don’t think it is a necessary need. Whenever I play other games they let me turn off aim assist and I would much rather use my raw aim than some source of assist that sometimes messes up my tracking. Aim assist also locks onto the torso of a body in games like apex (atleast from what I’ve seen) which makes headshots harder and no aim assist and tap strafe movement would be for the better.
