How is there still no solo mode

You would think at least for the time of the legend challenges solos would be in the game. The whole it's a team game excuse is just ridiculous, have the devs seen how 90% of games go with two people that don't know each other? Not having solos compounds into more problems. It just tells the players that don't want to play with friends or other people the devs don't care and it makes it a lot harder for new players. Also with sbmm how crazy strong it is trying to kill a team of people communicating and acting like a million dollars is on the line is almost impossible alone. There's just a bunch of things solos would fix that will never have a solution without it

@1unown1 respawn doesn't want to provide fair matchmaking and only catter to 3stacks/pro players that's why

"respawn doesn't want to provide fair matchmaking and only catter to 3stacks/pro players that's why

That statement is just so wrong. The game was and is made as a team based game at its core.

Respawn does want to make the fairest MM they can and do not only cater to 3stacks/pro players.

@WTF_Huitzo Well Respawn has gone on record to say that it won't come back because the "core" of the game is "teamwork", and that they had saw solos mode to be "an unhealthy aspect for the game".

Another point against it, was that "some legends were team based". Legends like Pathfinder, Wraith, and Bloodhound were highly picked and most often used as they "can be played as a solo". Legends like Lifeline were not, as "their kit evolved around teamwork".

They added no-fill to pubs as an alternative to a solos mode, so players can be by themselves, but they would be the only ones missing out on the "teamwork". (Teamwork is in quotes because let's be honest, when was the last time our randoms worked as a team, and they weren't a duo pre-made?)

I personally would love to see a solos mode again. However, it needs a system that detects teamers. Back during the Iron Crown event, you would see 2-5, (maybe even more), of the same legend fighting together. This was my major issue with the mode.

you guys don't understand what i mean by soloQ

SoloQ mean we're still playing in a squad of 3 but everyone tag the Q solo so everyone has the same chance/fair matchmaking (you know like almost every fps/game for the past 20years)

while atm apex legend is the most unfair battle royal when it come to matchmaking.

But that mean 3stacks and pro would have to wait to get a match so we're never gonna get a decent matchmaking.

just like we're never gonna have input lobbies.

My personal theory on why developers prefer team-based games: If you're on a team that wins an engagement then you, the individual, feel good about the outcome regardless of how much or little you contributed to the effort. If you're on a team that loses an engagement you, the individual, can blame everything on your teammates and rage quit. The dev doesn't care either way.

But if you do a solo mode then every single loss is your own personal failure and most people wouldn't tolerate a lot of that for very long. There's only so much "they're all cheaters" you can tell yourself before you're confronted with the simple truth that single player interactions are reductionist and unsatisfying. That basic truth applies to team play as well, but takes so much longer to realize, diluted as it is in so much activity that can't be fully comprehended, that most players will have grown up, grown old, and died before they truly understand it.

All that said, YES, this game desperately needs a single player mode. If they can come up with functional sbmm and working anti-cheat.

The problem with their argument is that they're saying, essentially, we're not doing a solo mode because we don't want to do a solo mode. The actual rationales are thin and easy to tear down. "Some legends are better than other legends in single play," tells me that you make each and every lobby "single-legend." You don't get to play "your" legend? Too bad. Wait around long enough and he/she/it will come up in the rotation. "Can't stop teaming," tells me that you stop trying and make it an actual game mechanic. "We always conceived of Apex as a team-based game," tells me that you re-conceive. It's all just lazy arguments that, to my conspiracy-tending mind, are there to mask the true problems of one vs. one gameplay, to which I alluded previously. Single combat makes it much easier to see everything that's wrong with the game - everything from weapon and motion mechanics, to sbmm, to cheating... the whole shooting match, no pun intended. And churn would go up and revenue would go down. It's far easier to hide flaws in the fog of team play.
