Honestly, at the distance you're talking about, any decent player with a Mozambique will down you. I'm guessing you just kept firing your devo thinking you were going to win but didn't realize the other player was hitting you with all headshots at that range.
I love the devo, but you have to know when to stop firing and recharge your shields, especially if you're mainly hitting body shots.
@LaughingSharko@WinStreakBadgeI did recharge my shields, they didn't. I had red armor, they only had purple. I got them low and got close to them to finish them off and they just 4 tap quickly, and most of the bullets hit the door and it still downed me.
The dude was already low and should of died, not be allowed to just quick-tap an overpowered gun.
Even if I was further away, people still shred with the damn gun. I've watched fights where people were 5-10 meters away from each other, and the EVA player almost always wins each and every fight because all they have to do is left click 3 or 4 times, and everyone they ever come across instantly dies with zero effort.
Mozam takes 5 shots to down the test dummy, Peacekeeper takes 3 (it somes kills in 2, but I think that was just because of headshots landed), and the Mastiff takes 3. These makes sense as the Peacekeeper and Mastiff are stronger shotguns and have more of a delay between shots. The Mozam, if you stand still enough for 6 shots, I get that's on you. Yet, the EVA, even if you don't stand still, it still kills people quickly. I shot at the dummy from 10 meters, and it still took 4 shots.
All someone has to do is either be good at aiming, or simply use aimbot to just lock onto targets. Sure all guns can be used with aimbot (or even strikepacks/xim), yet people are gravitating towards this gun, because they just need to shoot it 4 times, not empty mags into players like almost every other gun. Each EVA mag can knock 2 people, reguardless of their armor or helmet.
The EVA stops being a 4 tap and turns into 5 taps at 13 meters away. Still strong, considering Mozam requires 5 shots from 12 meters, Peacekeeper takes about 4 shots, and Mastiff takes 4.
1 -> 12 meters
EVA: 4 -> 4
Mozam: 5 -> 5
Peacekeeper: 3 -> 4
Masttif: 3 -> 4
The Mozam makes sense, because its a pistol with less spread, the Peacekeeper and Mastiff loses power at 12 meters, yet the EVA still does the same damage.
Time to knock (12 meters):
EVA: About 1.98s
Mozam: About 2.43s
Peacekeeper: About 3.61s (No choke), 6.23s (choke)
Masttif: About 2.76s
These were done with no headshots, for a baseline. I shot each gun multiple times, and the EVA took anywhere between 1.72s - 2.23s, Mozam was around 2.39s - 2.45s, Peacekeeper was around 3.57s - 3.63s // choke was still close to 6.23s since firing its a lot easier to time, and Mastiff having 2.73s - 2.78s. Took more of an average for each gun's unload speed, and I'm sure there's a more accurate DPS somewhere.
All the shotguns were tested with level 3 bolt, since that's ideal to use, it only takes slightly longer without a bolt for Mozam and EVA, and more so for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff.
There were some inconsistencies, with the EVA sometimes taking 5 shots at 12 meters, the Mozam taking 6, and the Mastiff and Peacekeeper requiring a reload, but considering the above numbers it takes to knock are possible, I'll assume "best case scenario".
Oddly enough, I don't know if its a mistake, or something within the incosistencies, but the EVA was more likely to 4 shot with a level 3 bolt than without one. Almost as if bolts increased damage, which seems to be wrong, since both bolt and no bolt, does 63 up close. Just something to mention.
Point is, yeah shotguns rule close range, but EVA is the one instantly murdering everyone with little effort. The Peacekeeper and Mastiff requires E F F O R T, Mozam is a hit and miss most of the time, while the EVA just goes "You have health? I'm sorry... you HAD health".
Aiming for the head at 12 meters, the EVA, Mastiff, and Peacekeeper takes way more shots, since there's a higher spread, and the Mozam - being the pistol with less of a spread, can down the dummy in 5 hits, and landing more consistant headshots than the other shotguns. This basically means, you don't even need to aim for the head to be more effective, you can just no-skill tap someone's body.
It takes the L-Star around 1.72s to down from 12 meters, and the Volt takes 1.12s, I wanted to time other guns like the Devotion, but it was harder to time and still hit the target.
This post was edited multiple times to provide and update the data to be the most accurate results I could possibly get. If I'm going to complain about a gun, I might as well go all out with testing it against its weapon class.
- 4 years ago@Midnight9746 From the experience you're describing, I'm starting to wonder if the real problem is your ping. There's no way a player with low shields should be able to down a full red shield player if the time stamps match up (unless you're missing a lot of shots of course).
What is your ping normally? Over 120?
Another way to test this would be for you to equip this overpowered (in your view) EVA and use it exclusively for 10 matches. If it's as powerful as you say, and logically everyone would be using it, then you should down countless enemies.
What I predict is actually going to happen though is you're going to shoot with your EVA, and it's not going to down people like you think, and you're going to say that the R99 is crazy overpowered, or the R301, or the Hemlock, etc. But it's really because the other person is hitting lots of headshots and they're registering before your hits.
That's my guess, at least. But I'll be happy to hear how your EVA conquests go.- Midnight97464 years agoHero+@LaughingSharko Ping says its 45-58, and I did pick up an EVA the next match was taking out most of the teams there with a sniper being the secondary weapon since everyone else took the good weapons. The fact that my team and I primarily handled 5+ teams with an EVA using limited ammo says something in my opinion.
