How Mythic Legend Skins SHOULD of been Implemented
I am sure it is obvious by now that many players are disappointed in Respawn’s decision to implement a $160 skin in a first person shoot game where you basically don’t see anything but the hands apart from finishers/emotes or banners... (could be fixed by adding third person mode to control?!?) Everyone was expecting to be able to buy 150 heirloom shards to purchase an heirloom of their choice so they could get their favorite heirloom they have been waiting for or purchase the Mythic Skin if they really wanted to... imo ALL collection events should give 150 heirloom shards and then the buyer should have a CHOICE on what to do with them but that isn’t what this post is about
Apex Legends passed on a major opportunity, they could of increased the level cap to 1000 and added some rebirthing system and each legend could have like 15-20 levels of ‘’mastery’’ rewards which you would earn from just doing kills,damage, wins, finishers, etc over time by just playing them and it might motivate players to play different legends that they otherwise would of never touched
I’m going to use Rogue Company’s as an example because Valorant’s is just bad, they have 10 different levels of rewards (they were not the best but have just recently added better rewards for higher levels that were empty, basically level 1 was a spraypaint, 2 was a avatar thing for your banner, 3 was an emote, 4 was a banner card, 5 was a frame, 6 animated banner, 7 animated banner card, 8-9 nothing yet, 10 was a title to display under your banner
Apex Legends has even more customization options for rewards like we could get banner frames, banner poses, Badge, (the 3 stat trackers for kills,, damage, and wins), intro or kill quips, emote, holospray, potentially a legend themed Skydive emote like Wattson would have electricity or nessies while Octane may have a stim juice trail, finisher, loading screen, music packs, skydive trails, and well... a Mythic Skin?!?
Basically my thought process is that levels 1-4 would be the basic rewards, at level 5 you would get the base level mythic skin, then from 6-9 you would get medium rewards while at level 10 the skin would upgrade, then from 11-14 you would get better rewards like the skydive trail, and then at 15 the Mythic Skin would be maxed out (unless the mastery levels go up to 20 and then you could do them slightly different)
For the last idk 6-8 months I’ve been playing Rogue Company a lot just grinding mastery levels on different Rogue’s and lately I’ve been focusing on trying to master all of the weapons because they have their own mastery system where you have to complete specific challenges with them to unlock weapon skins but apex could give weapon skins and gun charms and for level 10 you could get a reactive skin or something
I want this mastery system to be challenging, not something players can do in a month... I want it to be something to do for the long term... of course Apex Predators will have every legend and weapon maxed in 3 months but for everyone else it should take months and months or even year (s) of grinding and would motivate players to play the game more if they have things to grind for especially when there is a dry spell from the lack of content like we feel near the end of the Season
