How not to let the game die...

Dear Apex Legends Community,

In this post i will be addressing the player count falling and how I believe Apex Legends can make a change to bring it up to levels that were not

before seen. As a player who once loved the game but stopped playing because I just couldn't stand the updates they were bringing into the game as

well as them not fixing the issues that kept bothering me like ranked play. I will try to my best ability to point out what will make this game great for more

people to enjoy it.

More is more. I understand that creating more content may increase the price the studio has to pay to bring out more material at the start of the new

season but this is something the dev team has to factor in. Players don't want to keep playing the same redundant game over and over.  I wouldn't be mad if apex for

some reason dropped 4-5 new legends at the start of the new season. So its imperative that over the long haul they create software tools that are a lot more cheaper

to be able to dish out a lot more content for players without having to increase the price or time the studio pays in making them. I will add, If apex legends releases

4-5 new maps at the start of the next season, I'm sure a lot of players who love playing the game wont be mad. There is no reason why a community of players

should continue to have to play the same map over and over again when aggregately the studio is bring in a surplus of revenue than it brought in last season, if the

player count is increasing. In other words, there making more money so them accounting for the fact that they need to keep a player base happy, they should be

prioritizing making sure they can keep up with the demand by creating tools in there game engine to be able to dish out as much quality content as cheaply as possible.

Players might not like every idea the company brings to table but sooner or later they will be satisfied with one or two of the ideas the company dishes out. As a player

who once played this game everyday my biggest frustration was in having to wait 6 months to a year for 1 new map and then not liking it but if they would have put out 4 or 5,

I'm sure there was going to be at least one that I would have loved. Which in turn would have kept me playing the game. The player base does not want to be waiting years for that one

update that they really want and should not have to. So creating cheaper software tools to be able to put more content out for the community in my opinion is the most important thing.

One dev stated that the reason why the studio was not releasing a lot more legends over time was because situations like League of Legends. Were the increase in legends

didn't have players playing them. They were still sticking with a the few that they loved from some of the early seasons in the game. So the Apex dev team was staying away from it.

Although I understand were he is coming from, I would say this. Apex legends is still an early game compared to League. Its still in a point in time were it can scale massively before

that begins to happen, as previous league player i would also add this. They scaled the legends section by adding a ton but kept the map the same which is why i got board. I believe that

apex is at point were more is more. Fortnite understands this and is doing really well because of it. They understand that there making a game not for themselves but for the fans and the fans are the ones that let them know what is that they want. They are delivering on the feedback there getting and keeping a good portion of there player base because of it.

To all those who read this

Thanks!

Let me know what you guys think would make this game great and if you agree or disagree and why ?

Would love to hear some feedback.

(Also I know there may be typos just ignore not the best writer lol)

  • @Zero_X12IMO more content is not the answer. The answer is to address the fundamental issues making the game increasingly painful to play and that have been neglected for years, namely matchmaking, cheaters, smurfs, and server performance. More content without fixing those issues actually is where were are and makes everything worse.

I have to back @HappyHourSumwur on this one. The game has a content problem, to be sure, though I would have said that new game types are far more critical than new maps or legends. Imo. But the real problem is a playability problem. It will be fixed when the developer figures out how to consistently and accurately detect cheaters... which will be never. And when they decide to stop players from using secondary accounts... which will also be never.

Legends I don't need more of. There are already too many. Maps... sure, more would be nice, and I'm sure a few more will come out over time. But four or five a season is, at their scale, probably unrealistic. New game types, on the other hand, are coming out fairly often. My personal take is that so far they demonstrate a real lack of imagination. They are almost entirely focused on reducing the scale, time, and complexity of the game when they should be trying to expand options rather than limit them. Again, imo.

But even if they took up your ideas or mine (or both) tomorrow, I'm not sure that would bring a huge return of players. Maybe, but maybe not.
  • Just delete BR completely - from casual and ranked. It was never a good fps mode, team mode, or competitive mode. It's Rust on steroids. Add more normal modes like CTF and spin ranked around these.

  • The game has become painful to play, indeed. The wait time to join ranked games, eternity. There's a reason so many people quit, and will continue to quit, and there's many truths from what you said. I wonder if their game designers left or something? Feels like the game is being lost and I wonder if they will ever be a good game again.
